Dear Sir/Madam,
I would like to bring to your notice the fraudulent practices and the dishonest ways in which the India Today Group / Living Media (an India Today group Co) is doing its business in India. I seek immediate refund of my money i.e., Rs. 26,892/- (Rupees Twenty Six Thousand Eight Hundred and Ninety Two only) that was paid to Living Media on 22nd of August, 2010. I expect cancellation of the orders and refund of the money that was paid through my credit card after repeated assurances that this money was for handling and other mandatory purchases in order to avail the guaranteed prize money of Rs. 1,10,000 (Rupees One Lakh Ten Thousand only. I was repeatedly told that these purchases were to avoid taxation and that the prize was guaranteed and was not a lottery. The refund has to be credited to - ICICI Credit Card Number - xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx The details of the orders placed/transactions were: 1. Rs. 598 - Gold Box handling/shipping charges (Booking ID - 110084593) 2. Rs. 10,698 - Apple Ipod + Kodak Digital Camera (Booking ID - 110084592) 3. Rs. 598 - another Gold Box handling/shipping charges (Booking ID - 110084597) 4. Rs. 14,998 - Samsung Mobile (model number not specified) (Booking ID - 110084595) I was told that in return for the purchase of/payment for the items 1 & 2, I would receive Rs. 55,000/- worth of gifts. I checked that the payments were made to Living Media (an India Today Group Co.) and this made me go for the next two items (items 3 & 4) for a prize benefit of Rs. 55,000/- more when they assured me that I am guaranteed a prize of Rs. 1,10,000 in total. I was told that the mode of payment of prize money of Rs. 1,10,000 will be disclosed by the end of the call. At the end, I was told Gold vouchers worth Rs. 1,10,000 will be sent to my residential address and that these vouchers can be exchanged at any of the select jewellery stores in A.P, validity of the vouchers being 9 months. I wanted to ask more details but the call was disconnected. I was told the details will be sent to my mobile and also to my E-mail ID immediately. Nothing about the prize money has been intimated so far. The whole thing seems to be trash and it is disgusting that a respected media and publishing house is resorting to such shameful business tactics. I was circumspect initially, but because the amounts were duly paid to Living Media, I trusted the assurances to be genuine. I was told to enter my credit card details by keying the numbers through my mobile to the IVR of the India Today Group. I believed that the India Today Group would not stoop so low and not play dirty tricks with customers. Since the call was made through Bag It Today office Landline Numbers, I believe the entire call and the conversation must have been recorded. This should make you realize that the India Today Group / Living Media cannot claim to be innocent unless the money is promptly refunded or repaid. If they fail to come clean and repay immediately, this matter will be escalated to the highest levels of executive/judicial authority, as the case may be, and the image of the India Today Group shall be tarnished. I hope better sense will prevail and a refund will be made immediately. I repeat that I need a refund of Rs. 26,892/- (Rupees Twenty Six Thousand Eight Hundred and Ninety Two only). I expect the money to be paid to ( ICICI Credit Card Number - xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx ) immediately failing which I will have to escalate the matter to the highest levels and also demand higher compensation for the anxiety and stress the whole thing caused me apart from fiancial loss on account of the interest charges on my credit card. I do not know why the RBI and other Government institutions like the CBI/SFI (Serious Fraud Investigation) are not pro-active to make them close their operations and pay for their sins. Thank You. My name is Pankaj Kumar. i have been also misleaded/cheated by india Today Book Club (bagittoday) for a total of Rs.32493.00 I have received a call from India Today Book club on last week of month September 2010. He was talking that I have been selected for an offer and only 10 people are selected for the same. Offer Details as told by India Book Today Club Guys: They told me to buy any of the items (They gave some list of items, Hadicam, LCD, Sony c903 phone, MTV kit etc.) for RS. 14000 and you will get assured either 50,000 cash or diamonds of same prize (Rs. 50,000, Diamond weight they have told was 70 Cents). When I did the first transaction from my credit card they have told your account is still locked you have to make one more transaction of Rs, 15000 then only you will get this gift/benefit. At the end they have fraud me and I am misleaded to do three transaction. Transaction details are: 1st Transaction: Rs. 15699 2nd Transaction: Rs. 14996 3rd Transaction: Rs. 1798 Total amount I have paid is Rs. 32,493. They told me sir we will send you all the items (Samsung Omnia Lite Phone, Sony c903 Phone, Diamonds of Rs, 50000(70 cents weight) and round trip ticket for flight) before Diwali. Names of the selling persons. They told they are managers and Team leads for the same and assured me for benefit. Mr. Sandeep (manager) Mr. Sunny and (lead) Mr. kamaal (lead) After waiting for around 50 days I called them on 011-40502424 many times same repeated answer “we are working on that”. Every call costs me around Rs. 200. After some time I have called again for the same (Some Mr. Lalit) and they told me you will not get diamonds and sony c903 phone because we do not have Sony model with us. Hence your benefit is cancelled. I am seeking your help to get the problem resolved by either delivery of the product with the said benefit or refund of my hard earned money with compensation. I have all the conversation recorded on my phone with Mr. sanddep, Kamaal, sunny (On which they have assured me for diamonds of Rs . 50,000 with value certificate of diamonds ) and Mr. Lalit. Below are the details of membership number and order ID's thise guys sent me on my email. I took it because of prize/gift Rs. 50000 benefit 110093165 110093172 110093174 They have given some Membership numbers as well: ITBC10516991 and ITBC 10517107 Since the call was made through Bag It Today office Landline Numbers, I believe the entire call and the conversation must have been recorded there as well. This should make you realize that the India Today Group / Living Media cannot claim to be innocent unless the money is promptly refunded or repaid. If they fail to come clean and repay immediately, this matter will be escalated to the highest levels of executive/judicial authority, as the case may be, and the image of the India Today Group shall be tarnished. I hope better sense will prevail and a refund will be made immediately. I repeat that I need a refund of Rs. 16,793/- (Rupees sixteen thousands seven hundred ninety three only). I expect the money to be paid to ( Citi Credit Card Number - xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx ) immediately failing which I will have to escalate the matter to the highest levels and also demand higher compensation for the anxiety and stress the whole thing caused me apart from financial loss on account of the interest charges on my credit card. I would like to bring your kind attention to another scam which is going on .. The BAG IT TODAY a sister concern of India today group ( of AAJ TAK GROUP ) is robbing ordinary citizen like me of their hard earned money . I will tell you their modus operandi as below ....
I got a call from BAG IT TODAY of LIVING INDIA MEDIA GROUP ( OF AAJ TAK FAME ) one month back on Nov 14,2010 of a offer that if i make a online purchase out of three options they offered i will get CASH OR DIAMONDS worth of RS 30000 in addition to item that i purchased and my credit account was debited of amount of Rs 7898 for the KODAC CAMERA and Rs 899 for shipping and handling charges . On debit of my account i was told by caller that now my prize money has been increased and now i will get Rs 55000 more either in cash or diamonds in addition to Rs 30000 ( TOTAL Rs 85,000) since i was lucky one but i have to make one more purchase of Rs 7498 plus Rs 899 for shipping and handling charges . I enquired from caller umpteen times ARE YOU SURE I WILL GET THIS MUCH and he confirmed me yes since i was lucky out of whole of India that only two to three get this offer . I had no choice to believe him since AAJ TAK OR INDIA TODAY is such a REPUTED GROUP and i thought that they will not be cheating . So i made another purchase and my credit account was debited . The details of the orders placed/transactions were: 1. Rs. 899 - Gold Box handling/shipping charges (Booking ID - TELSALES/0GA100039870) 2. Rs. 7898 - Kodak Digital Camera (Booking ID - TELSALES/0GA100039868) 3. Rs. 899 - another Gold Box handling/shipping charges (Booking ID - TELSALES/0GA100039872) 4. Rs. 7498 - MTV AND REEBOK GOODS (Booking ID - TELSALES/0GA100039871) Then on Nov 17,2010 i got a call from them about my purchases and i enquired from the lady caller from BAG IT TODAY what goods they are despatching she told me that goods against invoices TELSALES/0GA100039868 and TELSALES/0GA100039871 were being despatched . When i asked about my free gifts and prize money or diamonds worth Rs 85000 she told me that i will be getting only diamonds worth Rs 5000 to Rs 10000 and not of value of Rs 85000 which i was promised . She then transferred the call to another senior and when i told him all the episode he told me that i have been mislead by caller from their group and he admitted to wrong doing . Then i told him to cancel all my orders and pay my entire amount back and i also told him not to send any goods . I even got a complaint no 683397 from them regarding this . Then some days later i got two packages from them by courier . I opened them thinking that may be i am getting all that what i was promised but on opening of packages i only got CAMERA and MTV AND REEBOK GOODS against two invoices and not the diamonds . Then i again called them regarding this and when i told them why i am not getting my diamonds i was assured that these goods will be picked back from me and my money will be refunded and my transactions will be cancelled . But nothing has been done . I send them mail every two three days and some caller will confirm me that either my amount will be refunded and everytime new caller will assure me . Now today they told me that my two transactions TELSALES/0GA100039870 and TELSALES/0GA100039872 have been cancelled on account of instructions from my bank but the truth is i never instructed my credit card bank to do so since my bank is not involved in this and my credit card is debited on the same day i.e., on Nov 14,2010 and now my credit card bank can do nothing and why i will tell them to do so . I have been only telling BAG IT TODAY people to cancel all the four transactions . Now these cheats are making excuses that i have instructed my bank to do so and since i have got goods of two invoices all the matter is solved . I only request you to please take action in this matter since all the conversations are recorded you can decide for yourself and make a decision . I only want to get all my money back . The goods i have received are intact with me and BAG IT TODAY can collect these goods from me anytime . I have been going through the tension all these days and i am suffering from money wise also . Since all the amount is debited in my credit card and to make the payment i have to pay interest also . I am left with no other option other than to contact you so that justice is done and i am sorry to say that such a reputed group is looting people like this . I just read so many cases like this on your forum and i hope something will be done in this matter . |

Bagittoday is in the business of cheating and acting fraud. By taking orders online, getting the amount collected and then not despatching the article is their USP. They must have collected millions of rupees in this manner. Very few guys are able to contact them once the amount is debited in their bank or credit card as no one from Bagittoday is accessible on mail or phone. They have provided a call centre's number which also they keep on changing. Some influential person must be behind this show. According to my estimate, they must have made more than Rs 1000 crore in last few months by such cheating mechanism. In my case, an order was placed on 29th Nov 2010 and till today no result. Mails sent tp Koel Puri and other senior management personnel of India Today Group are returned as they have placed wrong e mail ids on India Today Site. I really wonder that a India Today group which has renowned channel Aaj Tak and a renowned weekly India Today is involved in such cheating business. Yesterday (8th Jan 2011) in the evening at around 6 pm I received a call from Bag it Today , from phone number 0120-4781300 and was told that I have been selected to receive a special offer. They promised about the receipt of diamonds worth 90,000 plus a mobile phone and satyapaul tie-set.
I repeatedly asked about written confirmation and was told that I will receive sms on my mobile confirming the receipt of this gift, clearly mentioning the value. To avail this offer I was made to transact on my Credit card , using my mobile phone, the amounts of Rs 5999/- and Rs 24499/- respectively. The transaction IDs are 110101804 and 110101805 respectively. Till now I did not receive any sms confirmation from Bag it Today. There is not even any confirmation call which was promised by the people who convinced me to go for this offer. Although my credit card has already been debited the above amounts. I am sure this is a FRAUD, since till now I have not received any written proof of the assurance of the diamonds worth 90,000 plus other gifts. The tele-callers gave me false information to trap me. I checked in the internet that hundreds of people have already registered complaints of exactly similar fraud. Many of them have not received the gifts. Others have been told that the gift amount is 5000, which is much lesser than the money already spent by the customer. I have been duped the exactly same way. It's unbelievable that this is going on for years, and India Today Group is still continuing with this Theft and Fraudulence. I have sent a mail to Bag-it-today asking them to cancel the order and refund the money immediately. Hence I am going to take the following steps: 1) I have already filled up the dispute form for the transaction with the card. 2) I am going to lodge an FIR with the police. 3) I have decided to go to the consumer court. 4) I am in touch with a non-profit organization which deals with frauds by ITBC. 5) I am going to publish this in Facebook and spread the message. 6) I have talked to a friend working in a major TV channel so that they cover the story which is not only my story but of hundreds of people who have been duped by India Today like this. 7) I have blocked my card so that in future they are unable to misuse the card information that I provided. IF BAG IT TODAY REPRESENTATIVES ARE READING THIS, PLEASE CANCEL MY ORDER IMMEDIATELY AND GIVE BACK THE MONEY TO MY CREDIT CARD. |

Hello,
In June this year, I purchased two packets containing three diamonds each (vide order no. 1006581601), for Rs. 18999/- from Bag it Today. This came with a blackberry phone as a free gift. I thought my wife and daughter will be able to use these diamonds. The MRP mentioned on each of the packets was Rs. 30,000/- and this was widely publicised as a 'great' deal. When the diamonds arrived, both my wife and daughter had doubts about their worth. So, we consulted a few jewellers, and to our dismay, found out that these diamonds were not even worth one fourth of what we had paid for them, i.e. not even one tenth of the price mentioned as their MRP. I then researched online and discovered that many people had had experiences similar to ours. Like many others who have posted their experiences on this website and a couple of other websites, we also feel we have been cheated. I have not used the 'free gift' that came along with these diamonds. We would like to return everything and get our money back. Can you please help us? Thanks. |

This is my true bad experiance with this Bagittoday,
1. I brought Balackberry phone called TOUR on the conformation by phone that it wil work on CDMA network but un fortunationaly its not working, Since Im using CDMA Network for past 7 years I cant use this phone, 2. While switching on your Blackberry phone its displaying as UCA CELLCONNECT also in the bottom its printed as UC CELL, this spec is not mentioned in there website on product information, this upsetting 3. Charger provided by them is not as per Indian standard, 4. Now Im trying to send it back but its costing Rs 2500/- 5. Also I'm trying to cal them but no phone was working, all are disconnected 6. Now wife in the process of to filing a legal complaint against them, Pls be carful on buying anything in online |

This is a very bad experience with the BagItToday.com, the India Today Group. I have purchased one Samsung ES80 Digital Camera+4 GB Memory Card and one Reebok Green Melange Polo T-Shirt on Bagittoday on 3rd November, 2011 which order value is Rs. 5596 and i paid the money using credit card . I got the confirmation mail as "Your Order ID is: 1012293702. (Please note the order id. no. for future reference.) Kindly give us 2-7 days for processing of your order. You will receive an email and a sms with your dispatch details soon." After that, i got one mail after 8 days that is - "Thank you for your order. We wish to inform you that your order has been put under process with order no TRNPL/DLI/2011-2012/365008. The order value is Rs. 5596 Order Date is 07-NOV-11 and Activity is M-COMMERCE. You will receive an email and a sms with your despatch details soon. " Atfer this still now, i didnt get any information on my order status. I called up the toll free consumer line 0120-4112424 "N" number of times but it is always busy or ringing with nobody picking it up and luckily someone picks up then you are put on hold indefinitely.
