Default India Today Book Club - A club of fradulent activities & Scam

I want to advise the public to be careful if dealing with ITBC..On 3rd July I received a phone call from ITBC. Caller named him as Navneet & told me I had been chosen for a diamond jewellery voucher worth Rs.20000/-but for that I would have to purchase an item from ITBC.I booked a portable DVD(Rs.7498/-)& paid from my credit card through mobile phone.Next day again I received a call from a lady saying herself Amanpreet. She told me that there would be a big contest having prizes from 8 lakhs to Rs.25000/-& in which Rs.25000/- prize is assured for every participant.Again believing on her I booked a Camcorder(Rs.11999/-).Next day again she called me, & assured me for a free gift of golden box if I purchase a combo pack of I-pod & Camera(Rs.8498/-)& also given me a lock-in ID which according to her is an assurance of winning prize. Here I want to mention that ITBC people know my phone no. & address because I was subscriber of India today magazine in past years.
But real story begins on 3rd July2010.Somebody naming himself as Prabhat Singh congratulated me & told that I won a Gold jwellary worth Rs.3 Lakhs but for that I would have to do transaction of Rs.29000/-at least.Again believing on I paid Rs.25798/-.for a projector plus Rs.3588/- as extra payment. On 5th July some lady naming herself as Preeti congratulating me told that I had won 5 lakhs Jwellary voucher box but I had to transact Rs.36000/-atleast.When I said her I have already made payment to Mr. Prabhat Singh. She said this one is another Jwellary Box & that one was another. This time also I paid Rs.37467/-.including extra payment of Rs.5980/-On 10th July I received phone from somebody calling him Preteek. He told me that a payment of Rs.7498/-for 5 lakhs Jwellary box & Rs.9698/- for 3 lakhs is a must. This time also I made payment believing on him
You may be curious why everytime I made payment. The reason is that India today is a very renowned group & one can not easily believe that this type of fraudulent activities are going on there.I was first doubted first when I received portable DVD but without any diamond jwellary voucher as promised by sale representative of ITBC & second when today I called at ITBC & when asked regarding Jwellary box & the person receiving phone told that he is not aware of so called Jwellary Boxe. However he said the materials of orders placed by me would be delivered in next 10 days.I said him that I placed so many orders only because your people said that for receiving Jwellary voucher boxes it was a must otherwise I would not have placed any orders with you He could not reply the same.In this way I wasted my hard earned money on the products which actually were not needed believing on these fraud people of India Today Book club.Furthermore even the orders of 5th & 6th June are still to be recieved.I sent a number of Emails on their address response@indiatodaybookclub.com but they have not replied.

Default ITBC | Fraudsters and Cheats | Proposal for a Class Action Suit

ITBC | Fraudsters and Cheats | Proposal for a Class Action Suit

Hi,

I am Sujata Garimella.

Like you, I too trusted the India Today name and had ordered stuff from ITBC. My experience was awful. I did not get what I ordered for. I did not get the promised "extras". And I did not get any solution either.

This whole nightmare started in September 2009 for me.

To top it all they still keep calling me.

I plan to sue them for Rs. 10 lakhs. I have started an action against them and would like more victims of ITBC's dirty tricks to join in because there is a lot of strength in numbers.
Please click the link below and join in.

http://voip-india.webs.com/itbcsuethem.htm

Like you and me there are lakhs of other victims of ITBC's malpractices. There is a link in the web page above that will take you to a list of the sites on which people have complained. I request you to take the time and send at least 50 of them this mail and ask them to send it forward.

That way we can reach the maximum number of people in the shortest period of time and quickly initiate legal proceedings.

I hope we have 10,000 people and then, if not getting the money we can at least ensure that the company closes down.

Looking forward to take up arms together with you.

Sujata

Default India Today Book Club - Bag It Today - Fraud Company and Fraudulent Transactions

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to bring to your notice the fraudulent practices and the dishonest ways in which the India Today Group / Living Media (an India Today group Co) is doing its business in India. I seek immediate refund of my money i.e., Rs. 26,892/- (Rupees Twenty Six Thousand Eight Hundred and Ninety Two only) that was paid to Living Media today i.e., 22nd of August, 2010.

I expect cancellation of the orders and refund of the money that was paid through my credit card after repeated assurances that this money was for handling and other mandatory purchases in order to avail the guaranteed prize money of Rs. 1,10,000 (Rupees One Lakh Ten Thousand only. I was repeatedly told that these purchases were to avoid taxation and that the prize was guaranteed and was not a lottery.

The refund has to be credited to - ICICI Credit Card Number - xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx

The details of the orders placed/transactions were:

1. Rs. 598 - Gold Box handling/shipping charges (Booking ID - 110084593)
2. Rs. 10,698 - Apple Ipod + Kodak Digital Camera (Booking ID - 110084592)

3. Rs. 598 - another Gold Box handling/shipping charges (Booking ID - 110084597)
4. Rs. 14,998 - Samsung Mobile (model number not specified) (Booking ID - 110084595)

I was told that in return for the purchase of/payment for the items 1 & 2, I would receive Rs. 55,000/- worth of gifts.

I checked that the payments were made to Living Media (an India Today Group Co.) and this made me go for the next two items (items 3 & 4) for a prize benefit of Rs. 55,000/- more when they assured me that I am guaranteed a prize of Rs. 1,10,000 in total.

I was told that the mode of payment of prize money of Rs. 1,10,000 will be disclosed by the end of the call. At the end, I was told Gold vouchers worth Rs. 1,10,000 will be sent to my residential address and that these vouchers can be exchanged at any of the select jewellery stores in A.P, validity of the vouchers being 9 months. I wanted to ask more details but the call was disconnected. I was told the details will be sent to my mobile and also to my E-mail ID immediately.

Nothing about the prize money has been intimated so far. The whole thing seems to be trash and it is disgusting that a respected media and publishing house is resorting to such shameful business tactics.

I was circumspect initially, but because the amounts were duly paid to Living Media, I trusted the assurances to be genuine. I was told to enter my credit card details by keying the numbers through my mobile to the IVR of the India Today Group. I believed that the India Today Group would not stoop so low and not play dirty tricks with customers.

Since the call was made through Bag It Today office Landline Numbers, I believe the entire call and the conversation must have been recorded. This should make you realize that the India Today Group / Living Media cannot claim to be innocent unless the money is promptly refunded or repaid.

If they fail to come clean and repay immediately, this matter will be escalated to the highest levels of executive/judicial authority, as the case may be, and the image of the India Today Group shall be tarnished.

I hope better sense will prevail and a refund will be made immediately.

I repeat that I need a refund of Rs. 26,892/- (Rupees Twenty Six Thousand Eight Hundred and Ninety Two only).

I expect the money to be paid to ( ICICI Credit Card Number - xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx ) immediately failing which I will have to escalate the matter to the highest levels and also demand higher compensation for the anxiety and stress the whole thing caused me apart from fiancial loss on account of the interest charges on my credit card.

I do not know why the RBI and other Government institutions like the CBI/SFI (Serious Fraud Investigation) are not pro-active to make them close their operations and pay for their sins.

Thank You.

Yours Sincerely
Sri

Angry Non receipt of Ordered Items

I had been cheated by India Today Book Club [ M/s Living Media Services ] on the following count .

On receiving an offer via phone that I will be eligible for a Rs. 2,00,000.00 Sweepstakes Prize offer if I purchase a Handy Cam I had booked an Handycam and paid through IVR via my SBI Credit Card an amount of Rs. 7,498.00 to M/s Living Media Services in March 2010 .

Probable Booking Id: 110058257 OR 880104200 OR 88008336

But I am yet to receive the product. Sometimes there are phone calls asking me to buy more products especially new handycam but whenever I remind them about the NOn Receipt of the product they keep mum.

Please help me in getting a refund.
