I had purchased Altec Lansing FX5051 from a dealer in Hubli, Karnataka with bill and warranty on Oct 8, 2008. It had 2 years of warranty.

Unfortunately the product stopped working in Nov 2010. So I requested RASHI PERIPHERALS LTD (Official service provider for Altec products in India) to repair my product and I would pay for the charges incurred. At first the person at RASHI said that the model FX5051 is discontinued and the product cannot be repaired. I directly contacted the RASHI head office in India about this and I got a reply that only "POWER related issues can be resolved".

After this RASHI PERIPHERALS bangalore accepted my product as the fault was in "POWER PCB" of the product. After 1 week a person from RASHI, Bangalore replied "Power PCB is gone bad and the parts are not available". As an electronics engineer I requested him to list out the parts that are defective and which "are not available". I waited for his reply for 1 week but he didnt reply back.

Now without any intimation he has sent back the product to RASHI PERIPHERALS, Hubli and he is not available for contact.

Is this a case of failure to provide service? Can I approach the consumer court with this case?

P.S : I have copies of all mails that I received from RASHI head office & RASHI , Bangalore.
