Hi,
This is Gautam Agarwal, I am a Masters student at Purdue University Calumet, IN-USA and Automation Controls Engineer at Morrison Container Handling Solutions, Glenwood-IL. I have my family back in India. My brother is a Bachelors of Design student doing his final semester at Apeejay School of Design. He always had a great creative hand and so he decided to persuade his studies in design. The Indian rupee design symbol sign competition was a great opportunity for him to do something remarkable for our country. So he picked up his drawing sheets and pencils, and came up with a few designs and took suggestions from his faculty members. He made through the first list of contestants that were selected. He eagerly waited for the final result, and then finally he was not in the 5 best selected designs. But we all got disgusted with the fact when the jury decided to take a disqualified design. I am ashamed one more time and lost all faith in the bureaucrats of my country. Siddharth's design might not be the best one but it definitely was one of the designs out of many that were unseen in a hurry. I see this event as useless waste of time when the jury really doesn't know the ethics of a competition. And this was not just a competition the symbol would represent the face of Indian Economy to the world. I question to all the jury members that how could they forget the ethics and select a disqualified design. I am attaching my brother's design along with this message would stand against the injustice that has happened to his other fellow contestants. About Siddharth's Design: At first, the base of the design remains Hindi letter "raa" which is also the first letter of the Hindi word "rupiya". It also projects an abstract of our Nation's Father Mahatma Gandhi if the curvature of "raa" is looked with the knot. Also, the end tail of "raa" and additional tail on "raa" pictures the nation’s flag.
