I have recently posted my requirement in sulekha.com to shift my household items from Bangalore to Sirumugai (near Mettupalayam, Coimbatore DT). and I got a call from few packers and movers including Gupta Relocations. As the quotation from Gupta Relocations were reasonable, I have decided to go with Gupta Relocations. The person by Name Lalith Guptha spoke to me very nicely over the phone and he gave me 110% guarantee that goods will be shifted within 2 days with atmost care. He also claimed that he is into this business for a decade. I was flattered by his words of commitment and given the order to him. Promptly as promised he has send a vehicle to my house on 18th Sep 2011 morning 10 AM and packed all the goods. So far everything went fine.

I didn’t get any call / hear anything till Tuesday evening (20th Sep 2011) from Guptha Relocations. So I called him to ask the status of my shipment, he promised me that he will be shipping the things next day itself (today 21 Sep).

He called me today evening and said there is some problem in shipping, all the vehicles are going via Hosur, so I need to pay extra 2 - 3k to move it from Coimbatore to Sirumugai. when I asked why I should pay extra, he said, he is disappointed with my question and he said he don't want to continue the conversation and he cut the call.

I rang him again and asked him his way of treating the customer, Now he is saying, he can’t remember the entire India map, I got shocked when he said, his vehicles operate only between Bangalore and Chennai. So he is not aware of places around Coimbatore. So I need to pay extra else he will not ship the items.

I asked him to return my items in Bangalore itself and refund the money. He was again very harsh at me, and said he will not send the items to my place, instead I should come to his office and take the items. more over I have to pay him extra for transporting my goods from my home to his warehouse.

These local guys, just to get the order they quote very less and later they will demand you more.

Sincere advice to everyone, please do through research (checking for complaints in any forum) before committing any packers as I did. Hope my experience will be a lesson for others.
