I have sent my home belongings from Barrackpur(KOLKATA) TO PANVEL through M/s. Global International Packers & Movers, Nimta, Kolkata. The consignment was loaded on 25/07/10 and the delivery was taken on 14/08/10. Consignment Note No. 15086 dt.25/07/10 clearly indicated "Unloading by transporter". In the estimate given for the job they have indicated Rs. 7000/- for transport; Rs. 2000/- for Packing materials; Rs. 1000/- unloading charges. The loading charges and unpacking charges were included. While granting delivery it was noticed that the consignment was handed over to M/s. AFL at kolkata itself for a charge of Rs. 4200/ only. The consignment not of M/s. Indicates that the materials were OPEN and not in good condition. I also found that the locks of steel trunks were broken and the wooden boxes were also damaged. Representative of the party effecting delivery had simply unloaded the materials and went away without unpacking, stating that the job of unpacking is not in there list of jobs to be done and the materials are being delivered in the condition they received it. It clearly indicates that M/s. Global International have tampered with the materials at there godown before despatch. I have already given two e-mail to them and a telephonic call, but no reply have been received from them. Is there any way to get the compensation from the courriers. Please help.
