they often remain absent like on this monday,wednesday and thursday and lie that they are not working today but i find other dabbawalas working that day.He also asks not to reduce his wages for his absence.

We had made following complaint against Dabbawala Lakshman- mobile no 9821443118 to the union by e mail to both mydabbawala@yahoo.com & info@mydabbawala.com on 7 April 2011 and again on 13 April 2011.
""We live in Bangurnagar, Goregaon west and 7 months back one Balu introduced this dabbawala Lakshman for carrying tiffin to my daughter working in JJ hospital. we tried him for 2 months from July to september 2010.
His service was very poor e.g.
He was not bringing the box regularly so we missed sending tiffin
He used to bring very late i.e. at 8- 8.30 pm
Although time fixed was morning 9 am, he will come much early 8 am asking for tiffin and saying he will not come again
He lost our new carry bag and telling lies that it was not there
He asked us to keep on ground floor since he does not have time to come up by lift to our flat
He will not tell about leave and we will come to know only when he does not turn up
He used to go to pick up box at different times sothat my daugter could not finish eating
Because of such harassment by him, we stopped sending .

Again searching for two months , we again located a dabbawala from November 2010 till today.
But this lakshman came to know that and today he came to our house and threatened my wife that he will stop the other dabbawala and he will only come again. When my wife told him that because of his poor service we got fed up and stopped. After two months of stoppage we started with new dabbawala for 6 months now and we do not want to change.
Lakshman threatened that using Dabbawala union, he will ensure that no other dabbawala will dare to pick tiffin from our home.
To our shock the regular dabbawala today evening said that he will not come from tomorrow.
what kind of mafia is this- holding public to ransom misusing union power
I tried to persuade him to see reason, but he was dismissive challenging me to complain to union office and nothing can be done against him

We want to know whether you as union support this mis demeanour by one of your member.
We hereby request you to contact this mischief monger Lakshman and take action . you should allow the regular dabbawala to continue without threats from Lakshman.
We want you to acknowledge this complaint and reply ""

To our utter disappointment, there is not even an acknowledgement of our complaint and there is no phone no to contact at web site. What kind of an opaque organisation this trust/ association of dabbawala.
It is a myth that they are called professional and i do not think they deserve such praise when they operate like a mafia.

I wonder how this dabbawallas got all the appreciation. They really don't deserve it at all.

There is not one week when there service is proper. Either they dont pick up the dabba for deliver, or they deliver at the wrong address and there unwillingness to carry the empty dabba back and fight the next day. My Dabbawalla coordinator is Santosh and his no is 9819647298. His only explanation is that his guys dont listen to him and he will change the person for pick up and delivery.

This has been going on for months now and a simple pick up and drop has not been managed. The dabba needs to be deliver in Andheri east and they are junt not able to do anything properly.

I am convinced that all the awards and certification is on rigged records as they dont have any system of proving such high efficiency.

To top it all they dont allow any one else to serve !!!!
