I had initially decided (mistakenly) to take an Airtel Broadband connection. I had sent an email to Airtel & a Hariprasath landed up at my home (almost instantaneously). I paid him the required Rs. 550 for getting the connection & then the chugging along by Airtel started. Apparently there is a "Technical Issue" in my area (which Hariprasath forgot to mention to me while he took the money). For 2-3 weeks after at least 100 phone calls, I came to know that getting an Airtel Broadband connection was really difficult. Interestingly only new connections have technical issues however the existing ones have no problems (huh?). So I spoke to many guys & had the connection request canceled (or in their terms, they "rejected" my application).

Now there is a leak in Airtel. Somebody called Riyaz has given my phone number to Reliance Sales Executives (or to Reliance representatives). Only yesterday, I received calls from 3 different guys whether they want a new Reliance connection since I am "not happy" with an Airtel connection. I got this Riyaz guy name from one of the callers. My number is registered in DND. I don't know how would Airtel or any of their representatives have the guts to give my cell phone number without my explicit approval to third-party especially when I have not even became a customer and that too the nerve of their representatives to give it to their competitors.

BTW, I am yet to get back the Rs. 550 (after 2 weeks) of me getting to know that my application has been rejected by Airtel Broadband.

Morale of the story: (1) DND or not, our companies don't give a damn. (2) As long as I am a customer in "India", I cannot expect any "customer service" at all.
