Default Unethical behaviour of Delhi Gurgaon Expressway Authority

Yesterday (4th August 2010) at 1050Hrs. I was crossing Delhi Gurgaon Expressway Toll at Km 24 in my Scorpio Car having Registration Number DL-3CAS-1180. My car is fitted with TAG Number 07030026038. On crossing the TAG was charged but due to faulty operatin of Barrier of toll at lane no. 16 the barrier which had opened suddenly fell on my car and damaged the front glass of my car. In this context a complaint No. 610 was registered by the attendent on the spot and assured me that the screen will be replaced by the authority within 24 Hours. He also wrote on the complaint two mobile numbers i.e., 9717890186 of Mr. Ghosla and 9717890100 of Control Room. When I called Mr. Ghosla on his mobile he directed me to speak to Ms. Anjali on her Mobile Number 9717890160 to get the needful. In turn I spoke to Ms. Anjali and she assured me that she will come back to me in the morning. I again checked in the morning at 1030Hrs. with Ms. Anjali and she told me that she will call me in next one hour. She called and informed that the accident has happened due to my mistake of not keeping the distance of safety and not due to faulty operation of Barrier Rod. It is utmost surprising that tag is charged for the entry and barrier is fell down instead of keeping open. She also overlooked the point that height of Scorpio car is sufficient enough that in case the car hits the closed barrier the barrier cannot reach the height of wind screen. Other point if the car is not at safe distance how does the automatic reader charges the tag. Once the tag is charged the needs to remain open as is being seen since the day of installation of toll plaza. Further more the safety feature of the barrier was disabled by the operator. I am using the tag from the very first day of opening of toll plaza and have seen that in case any car hits the barrier it immeditely opens to the side without damaging the vehicle. Instead of paying the damanges they are fabricating the excuses. My damages may please be recovered from the concerned authorities.

Angry WIndshield damages at the Toll (Delhi Gurgaon Expressway)

Similar incident also happened to me Dec-7th. The Boom/barrier came down instead of going up after the tag was scanned. It fell on my windshield and there were visible cracks on the glass. The person their lodged a complaint in the book and later i called Ms Sashi Prabha Singh, who asked me to wait for their ****ysis/report on the incident. I followed with her for 2 days and on the 3rd day she reverted with the same explanation as in the incident of Raman Khanna. She said that the distance between the 2 cars was not properly maintained and it was not their fault. incidently, i drive a Safari and the boom hit the top of my wind shield. There is no way they can find the distance between the 2 cars. To get the wind shield replaced would cost aatleast Rs 8000. Looks like the Expressway management has given instructions that no such complaints would be entertained. Need some legal help to pursue such unfair practises from these guys and get the damages.

we are taking this matter and several others concerned regarding the faulty management of the expressway with concerned authorities and court, if need be.
