I travelled with my family totalling six persons from Tirupati to Chennai Central in second class chair car reservation coach D2 by Saptagiri Express Train no 16054 on 26th January 2012.
The condition of the coach was very bad with full of Cockroaches and Rats though there was a note in the coach saying that the disinfection was done on 14.01.2012. I seriously don't believe this note, as no person with a stable mind will believe this after seeing the condition of the coach..
Secondly, the drain pipe underneath the wash basin was broken and the water was flowing freely inside our compartment seating area. Also the storage was leaking near the toilet entrance . When the travelling ticket examiner came for checking the tickets,we showed him all these things. He informed us that this has to be attended by the maintenance department. our coach no was WSCZ 94665/A.
Our seat nos were 103 to 108 . No action was taken by the ticket examiner to improve our situation,rather he just commented that, he is only responsible for ticket checking and we only will have to inform / check with the railway staff who come for filling up the overhead tank. There was no response from the Ticket Checker when we asked for a complaint book to register our complaint.
To add to our misery after few stations ,a whole bunch of people entered our reserved compartment and crowded all round us. we informed them that, this was a reserved compartment and they should go to unreserved compartment, but all this felt on deaf ears... The Ticket Checker was also no where in sight and we had to bear all this till we reached our final destination. It is no wonder that people complain so much about Indian Railways.
We are in our 63rd Republic day and we are still not free from all these trivial issues. We take all pains to make confirmed bookings when the counter opens and what we get in return is really a sad state of affairs.
We want a full refund of our fare from Tirupathy to Chennai and also want strict action to be taken against such irresponsible railway staff who are not doing their work efficiently.
Railways will charge us for everything but we are not guaranteed proper facilities in return.
I hope somebody takes note of our complaint and replies back to us with the action taken by the concerned department, so that atleast in future we can expect something good when we use the services of Indian Railways.
One person cannot change the whole system, but atleast we can voice our opinion and expect some change in the future....
