Dear sir,
i was travelling onboard Rajdhani Express(17th May), Train No 12429 from Bangalore to Nizamuddin which i boarded at Secunderabad ( had got the boarding station of my over the counter ticket changed).

I somehow wasn't able to produce the ticket when the TC asked for it. I was sure of having entered the train with the ticket though. However when asked for i cudn't locate it. After giving me ample time, the TC asked me to either Get down at the next station or buy another ticket at full price which was Rs 1725 (for SC to NZM). I had no option but to buy the full priced ticket again.

the tc also informed me that incase the original ticket was found, the slip he had issued to me ( some excess fare ticket which was of the full ticket amount = 1725) could be returned and the fare for one of the tickets would be returned.

During disembarking at Nizamuddin, when the attendant removed the blankets, i suddenly noticed my ticket lying on the floor. I immediately took it and rushed to the TC. He asked me to file for some TDR or something and told that i would have to get the refund at the counter itself.

I would like to know, whether the action taken by the TC was appropriate (in terms of asking me to buy a full fare ticket, even though i had a confirmed 3AC reservation and was ready to show a valid ID proof)

Also kindly let me know the procedure for getting the refund on account of the double fare paid by me.Please also mention the place and time-frame within which i need to act.
