I am Dr.Senthil kumar from chennai.Today 04.02.2012 my father Mr.S.Guruviah aged 80 years was traveling from Srivilliputtur to Chennai in the Podhigai express (03.02.12 - 20.30 pm boarding at Sriviliputtur) in second sleeper coach.My father got down at Tambaram station and got into a Electric train for Guindy.He was using the same reserved ticket which is valid upto Chennai Egmore, so he didnot get seperate ticket for the electric train.At guindy station my father was stopped by a Ticket Examiner and my father was fined a sum of Rs.250/-by the TTE for not getting a seperate ticket for local electric train.My father was arguing for a long time explaining that his reserved ticket is valid upto Emore Chennai.But the TTE was not ready to hear this and finally he paid the fine and came home.The TTE also said that a passenger with a reserved ticket cannot travel in the local electric train whereas a passenger having a unreserved ticket can travel in the local electric train with the same ticket.
Please clear me the following doubts:
a. Why not a passenger with a valid reserved ticket cannot travel in the local electric train with the same ticket, as the Express train will not stop at every stations in chennai and aged passenger as my father cannot go all the way to Egmore and return back to Porur which is far away.
b. How can a passenger with an unreserved ticket has all the rights to travel in any train from any station within the stipulated distance.
C.Can I file a case against the railways for troubling the old man for no reason.
