Hello,

I had booked a ticket for my dad through the railways online booking portal (IRCTC Online Passenger Reservation System) in January. The date of journey was 08/01/2010 through Kafiyat Express, from Lucknow to New Delhi. Now since it was winters there happens to be a lot of fog a lot of trains are either canceled or extremely delayed. Again it was one of those foggy nights and the train was running pretty late.

I had applied for a cancellation of this ticket on the 9th Jan, 2010. Since this was after the departure of the train I had filed for a TDR, this process usually takes about 60 working days to process the refund however, it has been almost 6 months now and I am still waiting for my refund. I had written a couple of mails to the railways and they kept assuring me that the refund will happen in sometime and after that they just stopped replying to my mails. Can anyone suggest methods that can be put to practice to get this refund? Would appreciate an insight on this.

I believe that a Government Enterprise should be the most efficient one but sadly in our country it is the worst one. Please share your thoughts on this. Would appreciate any guidance or help. Though it is not a huge amount to let go (Rs. 1100 approx.) but the point is why should i pay for a service that I have not availed or rather which our railways officials failed to deliver.

Best
