Dear Administrator,
I had booked KingFisher flight from Delhi to Chandigarh on the date 01 Aug 2010. The flight was cancelled by Kingfisher. Kingfisher Airlines refunded the amount to the Credit Card Account of mine. However, the amount towards the Travel Insurance has not been refunded. I could not avail the benefit of travel insurance as the flight was cancelled. The travel insurance had been suggested at Kingfisher Airline website.
As we are aware that all airlines deduct a handsome amount if a customer cancels the flight. However, no compensation is paid to the customer if Airlines select to cancel the flight. Airlines always quote either OPERATIONAL REASONS OR TECHNICAL REASONS. But when we inquire about the specific reasons, there is no response.
This does not seem justified and negates the principle of equal rights. Is there any regulation by DGCA which provides some guidance to customer community towards their rights for claiming the compensation. Also, throw some light on the circumstances/eventualities under whcih the flight cancellation is consiered legitimate.
I had written to Kingfisher Airlines, however till date there is no satisfactory reply from their side.
In fact this is not the issue only with Kingfisher Airlines but with all the airlines.
Will DGCA look into this??
Flt Lt Ashwani K Notey (retd.)
