Dear Sir/Madam
We travelled by a KSRTC Bus No.KA01 F-7672 on 09/05/2010 pickup time of 18.43 at Kodaik**** to Bangalore booked on 04/05/2010 vide ticket no.17409232 for 4 tickets at a total cost of Rs.1,994/-. The bus did not start at the scheduled time due to some reason given by them. Finally it did start at 7.15 from Kodiak**** to halt abruptly due to some technical snag in the tyres which the drivers or anybody concerned in the bus could make out. It was around 7.45 only when he had stopped at a small hotel. The drivers or the conductors did not give us any message as to what was happening. We were told to get down as the tyres were heated and made to wait. On calling upon the control office by myself only did they come to know about the problem. Only later did they call the concerned staff of the bus. The bus took off to stop at a small garage to get some repairs done. We were stranded for about more than 2 hours or so at the middle of the night on the highway. The bus took off and went for only about 10-15 minutes when a four wheeler who was chasing us from quite some distance and honking from behind and had to finally block the bus to stop us. The persons had noticed some smoke and fire emanating from the rear tyres of the bus and stopped us. The bus finally came to a halt and all the passengers were stranded on the highway at the pitch dark of the night around 20 kms from the nearest district headquarters bus station. All the passengers with small children, ladies, teenage girls, aged persons were all alighted and made to stand at the midnight on the highway. There was no alternate arrangement made to accomodate us. None of the other buses on the highway were ready to accomodate all the passengers stranded. Most of the passengers had to make their own arrangement to reach the destination i.e Bangalore. This is the tale of the passengers of erstwhile Government Of Karnataka owned Public Transport Organization. I request you to refund the ticket money and also the compensation for all the lapses on their part for creating a lot of inconvenience to all the passengers at a unearthly time. Moreover when contacted the control office were very rude to us even though we were the sufferers after being assured a safe travel and happy journey. The staff concerned were aware of the problem in the vehicle as they were giving very vaque reasons for the delay in the arrival point itself. They could have called off the bus and could have made alternate arrangements or could have even refunded the amount and given the passenger itself a chance to make alternate arrangement at the starting point itself instead of stranding us in the middle of the night.
I sincerely request you to look into the matter and impose a suitable fine/punish the concerned for lapse of the services assured
Yours faithfully,
PADMAJA
