I decided to purchase a 40 inch Samsung LED TV during Diwali sales and before buying the TV from store, I wanted to do an online search and see if I would get good deal online. I did find a good deal online and so decided to buy through online. But before buying and while I was at the store, I called up Samsung Customer Care and checked if I BUY the TV from India, would I get installation free of cost. They promised me that as long as the TV is bought from India, the installation is free.
Trusting their words, I went ahead and bought the TV online and called Samsung Customer Care to schedule for installation. After following up with them for more than a week, they finally sent and engineer to do the install. He came at night and proceeded with the install and drilled a large hole in my rented house and installed the TV. While plugging the TV for final inspection, he found that the plug was of different type and he called up his superior and after some discussion between them, they told me that they cannot do the install free of cost since the TV is not manufactured in India. Now, this was the first time I was aware of the condition that the TV needs to be manufactured in India for the installation to be done free. I tried to reason with them what I was told, but they wouldn't listen.
I mailed Samsung India and International head about my situation and they promised to look into the matter. But its been more than a week since I sent the mail and nothing has happened so far. I am posting this in this forum as a last effort to get some response from them.
If anyone is planning to buy Samsung TV, be fore warned about their after-sales support.
