delay in refund of amount on pre-closure of homeloan from CITIBANK, N.A.
I had taken a home loan from CITI BANK bearing home loan no:1107459 in Nov 2008. we were not sent any photocopies of the documents, the bank is in possession of, despite of several calls to the customer care service. Dissatisfied with the bank, i had decided to go for a pre-closure of the home loan in april 2008. Since then i made many calls to the customer care asking them to send me a pre-closure letter and also the list of documents. After 35 to 40 days, i received those desired documents and made the payment on 30 June 2010. Since i made an overpayment towards pre-closure, i was promised for a refund within a short period. But the cheque was sent to my syndicate bank account on 9th July 2010, but was immediately reverted by the bank to CITIBANK, since there was a mismatch in the account no. I informed the same to the customer care immediately on 10 July and was assured of a Demand draft to reach my residence within 3 days. Despite of several reminders every day, the bank has not been able to even trace the cheque till date. The customer care service of the CITIBANK is completely inexperienced and irresponsible. They do not update their computers with the queries of the customers and keep asking the same details on every call. I have undergone much trauma and mental tension on account of citibank, besides spending hundreds of rupees on the calls to the customer care service. I am completely surprised at the careless attitude of a private bank. Hopeless of the redressal from the bank, i wish to lodge a complaint in the consumer forum against the CITIBANK, N.A.. I sincerely request you to initiate some stern action against this citibank and help me settle my dues from the bank.
