Mr. Aditya Puri,
The Managing Director,
HDFC BANK,
Sir,
I write this to approach you and seek your personal attention for redressing my grievance. I provide the facts as under:-
1] My Car Loan for Rs.85,000 was sanctioned on 12/6/2011 under the A/C No: 18973033
At the time of taking the Loan I had sought specific assurance that there would NO PRE-PAYMENT CHARGES after 6 months of loan period from the Branch Manager of HDFC BANK [Mr.Vijay Kumar]at Indiranagar,Bangalore Mr. Vijay Kumar (Ph. No. 7760967460) also assured the same saying he will do
it as he was the Branch Manager.
2] When Printed Agreement was given to me for signatures, it stated 6% Prepayment Charges.I was told to sign the Agreement Form on the dotted lines and assured by the Branch Manager. Mr. Vijay Kumar that a seperate letter would be issued confirming " NO PREPAYMENT CHARGES" since I wanted the Loan in three days.
3] My father, who is a Senior Corporate Consultant at Chennai, happened to be in Bangalore at that time, A week later he spoke to Vijay Kumar over the phone about the promised letter and reminded him again after a few days. He was told that the letter would be sent which never came.
4] Later, I sent an Email to grievance raising it. Mr Mohan Kumar (Ph. No. 9379295145), learning about the case, assured that Mr. Vijay Kumar would phone and speak to us, which did not happen. Mr Mohan Kumar when advised Mr. Vijay had not spoken, waited for a couple of days, and made a Lady from his Office phone and coveyed Regrets to be of any help.
5] I again tookup the matter with Mr Mohan conveyed to me over the phone that only 1% could be reduced and later retracted and regretted that even 1% was not possible.
6] Then I was contacted by Sandeep (ph. no. 9341835488) [copied in this e-mail], who enquired from me about the entire episode and took phone number of Mr. Vijaykumar. Later he contacted and told me that Vijay kumar was not the branch manager, but only a "Agent of HDFC bank". He told me he could not do anything to help me as Mr Vijay Kumar was denying the statements made by me.
I Now approach you for equitable justice & fairplay. HDFC or their agents should not bluff a Customer and must honour their Commitment of Waiver of Prepayment Charges. I take this a a case of cheating the customer.
I request a favourable consideration at your hands and hope, I would not be compelled to seek other higher available remedies. Shall be grateful for your early reply.
Thanks,
Vishal
