    Hi,
    I did online transaction of transferring Rs 10,000 with ICICI Bank on May 14th, 2010 .By mistake I transferred money to wrong account number which I did not intend to .I wanted to transfer money to Swapna Bingi, A/C - 000401656495 but by mistake i transferred it to someone by name Paul Jhonson A/C 000401656435. I gave written letter to ICICI bank on 15th May 2010, MVP Colony ,Vishakapatnam branch. They are not able to trace the A/C, they gave me A/C holders contact number 9324633213, which is currently not working. Other thing is that the A/C 000401656435 is in negative balance and is blocked by ICICI bank. The banking personels are saying they cant transfer money unless and untill they get A/C holder permission.
    If any A/C is blocked by Bank itself, the Account is totally inaccesible for ny type of transaction (transfer, withdraw or deposit). Then how did my Money is transfered to the Blocked Account.
    No provision is made to Cross check for online fund transfer to the intended A/C holder.
    I am confused how to get back my monery. Please help me in the same matter.

    I have the same Problem - I know realize the worth of the statement ICICI Bank uses to promote them selfs " Khayal Aapka" lol

    Worst and third grade bank - In your case understand one thing as the benificary of the funds has a account in negative balance obiviously bank is not going to allow him to wihdraw money and they are ot going to return you your funds so it is clear Bank has a intention to keep the money for themselfs and show the world " Aapka Paisa Khayal Humara"

    Same case here. I mistakenly added a wrong account number which had infact one digit missing from the correct account number and still the money transfer went successfully.

    I called the call-center and they asked me to talk to the branch. I went to the branch and was shocked to hear that they are not able to reverse the transaction even when i was admitting that i did the transaction wrongly. There is no validation/confirmation on account account holder name or even the account number. The representive said that they cannot do anything because in case of online transfer the whole responsibility is on me and whatever i do is my problem. I asked them to provide the account-holder details to which he denied and said that they cannot do it because of confidentiality. He asked me to submit an application and the bank will try to contact the account holder on best effort basis and there is no time limit on how long it may take. When i submitted the application, i was even more surprised that there is no tracking number for such requests and he asked me to come after 15 days. I am wondering what would they do for 15 days for this request ? Within few minutes they should be able to identify the account holder and get hold of the contact details/mobile number , whether the account is operative and inform him/her regarding the same.Now how do i ensure that they are acting on my request ? and how do i get the status update of what happened. It is shocking that even within the same bank they are not able to resolve such issues. They should be blocking the amount from withdrawal and then reverse the same.
    Its sad to believe that the only thing that can be done now is to simply wait and see if you are lucky.
    Please provide any suggestions on what can be done in this case.

    Actually its right that bank cannot withdraw money by itself even though 1 party has said it has done transaction by mistake.

    For example, if I and you are friends, I had given you 1000 cash and you returned me that by bank transaction. Now later you and I had a fight and are no more friends. What if now you complaint bank that you have mistakenly transfered Rs.1000 to my account by mistake.
    It doesn't prove you are right neigher you are lying. The bank can only talk to other account holder about this problem and if he agrees then only they that other person can return your money.

    Its just from my logic, there can be some other ways too you need to find what can you do.
