    Angry HDFC Life: extremely poor and troblesome service

    I had taken an HDFC Life HDFC SL Crest, policy no.: 14547275 with premium of Rs.50,000.00, in September 2011 with the recommendation of one of my friend who is working with HDFC Bank, I received the policy documents on 20 September 2011, and after reading the policy terms and conditions I did not like the Policy at all as there are better policies available in the market from Other Policy companies.

    Hence, I requested the HDFC Life Vashi (Navi Mumbai) branch to cancel my policy and refund my money. As the policy is in free look in cancellation period, I am allowed to cancel the Policy. Branch accepted my request on 22-September 2011. And promised me that I will receive the refund within 15 days. After 15 days when I did not received neither my money nor any communication from HDFCL Life regarding my policy cancellation, I tried to enquire my policy advisor for the status. My policy advisor could not get any reliefs to me. I tried HDFC Life customer care and narrated my whole problem, the executive committed that my cheque is already dispatched and I would receive the same in couple of days’ time.

    Again on non-receipt of my refund money, On 31-October 2011, I tried to contact the HDFC Life by e-mail on their e-mail id: service@hdfclife.com. I got a telephone call that the my cheque is already dispatched but due to the festive season the delivery is delayed, but I would receive it within 7 days time, same was confirmed to me by a return e-mail from Kiran (HDFC Life - Customer Service Officer) on 31-October 2011.

    Still waiting for my money, on 14-November 2011, I again wrote an e-mail to service@hdfclife.com for expressing my troublesome situation and sheer frustration. I also called my policy advisor and asked him, If he can do something as felt, I’am being cheated by HDFC Life. I have two more Life Insurance Policies with HDFC Life and father also has policies from HDFC Life. I fear that, on asking the refund on cancelled policy, HDFC Life has given me tough time than on maturity of policy, how they would pay me my complete policy amount.

    I would advise everybody here to be cautious before buying any product of HDFC Life.

    I got a call and my cheque # 953604, for Rs. 49,466.11 is handed to me. Hopefully the cheque gets cleared from HDFC Life. But, what ever may be the case / reasons I'm really happy that I got the cheque and never-ever will buy any product from HDFC Life in the future.
