    Sub: Horrible SBI Jorasanko Branch(1204), Kolkata-700006

    I hold a savings account at SBI Jorasanko(1204) Branch, 1/1A Nanda Mullick Lane, Kolkata-700006, for the last few years. Workings in the branch are very appalling. Account holders are a big obligation to branch staff. Smoking, gossiping, abusing and intentionally delaying work of customers is very common at this branch. Raising the issue to the incompetent branch manager Swapan kumar Mandal regarding the non-performance of the staff members was of no use. Moreover the branch manager is nothing but a damn liar.

    On 30.3.2011 my wife who happens to be a joint account holder went to the branch at 2:45 PM to deposit Rs 8000/-. Though there are three cash counters, no one was present in those cash counters. Instead to everyone’s surprise all the members of staff had gathered at one place WATCHING TELEVISION. When my wife approached them for receipt of cash, no one was willing to move and instead pointed her to one Samiran Dalal.

    He was very scornful of my wife’s presence in the branch when a cricket match was going on in the television. He even hurled abuses to her and moreover some staff members passed lewd comments and relished her harassment.

    My wife being the sole lady in the branch at that time was left with no other alternative but to leave the branch.

    Now this is STATE BANK OF INDIA.

    After this incident I personally went to the Branch at 3.40 PM on the same day. Though the official business hours is upto 4 PM, I found that the collapsible gate at the entrance of the branch on the 1st Floor has been put under lock.

    When I raised my voice to enquire what was happening, it was the same Samiran Dalal who started shouting at me in the filthiest language. Needless to mention, that all the other staff members were still gathered around him watching television.

    I gathered information from other customers that this Samiran Dalal is a very nefarious character involved in many anti-social activities in the locality including illegal underage prostitution. Watching television during official banking hours is also very common in this SBI Jorasanko(1204) branch.

    Now, SBI cannot be expected to give services like private bankers. But neither these sort of nuisance be allowed to continue at a Nationalized bank. Lack of adequate supervision from Controlling Offices can lead to most dismal of services at the Branches. Please look into the working of this SBI Jorasanko(1204) branch, so that the account holders are not denied of any of the minimal services, due to the indifferent attitude and misdemeanor of the staff members.

    Dear Sir,

    With all the good intentions and faith, I wish to bring to your kind notice the various malpractices and irregularities taking place at State Bank, Itachanda Branch(6193). The branch is located at Guskara, Burdwan, West Bengal.

    My daughter, a college student has a savings account at SBI Itachanda. Customers are like a nuisance to the Itachanda staff, particularly to the branch manager Shri. Pijush Kr Barman. Simple things like opening a Fixed/Recurring Deposit takes over a week. Clerical staffs are expert in arguing with customers, chatting among themselves and mischievously delaying work of customers. Discussing the matter with the incompetent branch manager Pijush Kr Barman, regarding the dismal lackadaisical attitude of the staff members was futile. Pijush Barman is always in the DENIAL mood. Moreover the branch manager is nothing but a DAMN LIAR.

    My daughter had submitted her duly filled-up savings account opening form with all the documents, long time back. After repeated visits she received her passbook on 16.8.11. But to her utter surprise she found that her particulars like name, address etc were all mis-spelt on the front page of the passbook. When asked to rectify the errors, the branch staffs shouted at her without even bothering to note down her particulars.

    Seeking redressal she approached branch manager Shri. Pijush Kr Barman, at his chamber, on the same day. At 11.30 AM the branch manager was checking vouchers!! Pijush Barman was very agitated about my daughter’s presence, and shouted abuses at her. Moreover taking advantage of the fact, that nobody else was present at his room at that time, HE MADE FILTHY COMMENTS WITH ***UAL OVERTONES. His behaviour was totally unbecoming of a decent civilized person, let alone a SBI branch manager.

    This Pijush Barman is an unscrupulous person. He doesn’t deserve to be a SBI branch manager. He is always seen checking vouchers and reading newspapers in his chamber. He has ordered the security guard Sufal Dey to prevent anyone entering his room. In this branch the security guard is seen, in front of branch manager’s door, arguing with poor villagers, instead of guarding the main gate of the branch!! More surprisingly, the branch manager encourages clerical staffs like one Saikat Konar to argue and misbehave with customers!!

    After that incident, I tried to contact the branch manager over phone(03452255115). But he was never available!! On 22.8.11 I personally visited the branch to meet him, but I was insulted and prevented from meeting him, like other poor villagers before me. Branch manager was seen smiling and chatting over phone in his chamber. Tendency of this branch manager is to avoid his work & customers in whatever ways possible. He maliciously passes/delegates his work to others to avoid responsibility and accountability. We have watched him throughout this week. It has come to my knowledge that this Pijush Kumar Barman is a crooked and lewd character. He has the habit of behaving and talking to young villagers, in a manner that is not suited of his age.

    IRREGULARITIES & MALPRACTISES are at a plenty at this SBI ITACHANDA branch.

    Branch Officers, on direction of the branch manager deny agricultural loans to farmers on various pretexts. The officers also are not well versed with various loan procedures and spend their time printing passbooks, bank drafts and clearing backlog. No acknowledgment is given for cheques submitted. Cheques put inside dropbox are delayed, lost & manipulated!! Loan documents are maliciously misplaced and poor farmers are harassed, particularly by overcharging interest in various ways. Agriculture being a PRIOITY SECTOR, SBI must conduct itself responsibly and look to it so that local villagers are not denied of any loans from the bank, all because of some irresponsible & callous officials. Duties of each officer and staff must be explained to them, by appropriate higher authorities.

    This branch manager is habitually corrupt. People at Gushkara are very aware of the fact the Pijush Barman, often calls rice/flower mill owners and other wealthy customers at his residence. He offers them various loans and other facilities in return for various favours. Many of these people later don’t repay the loans. Though my husband is a state govt. employee my daughter was denied Education loan by this SBI Itachanda branch. But we could secure the same education loan from the local Allahabad Bank.

    Workings in this SBI branch are utterly chaotic & unsystematic. Branch manager and other officers are always seeking to avoid work. Moreover the branch manager is hardly knowledgeable about banking rules & practices. Clerical staff takes full advantage of the situation. They are totally negligent and often staffs are seen relaxing and chatting inside the server room. Clerical works are handed over to sub-staff and outsiders. Temporary recruits are used for important day to day operations like savings and fixed deposits opening. For eg, many customers very often don’t receive ATM cards/PINs, cheque book etc. One outsider (Ashish Mitra) takes care of delivery of these important items!! What intention does the Branch Manager has behind permitting all these? This branch manager regularly uses the services of part-time staffs and the branch car for his personal requirements.

    Activities of each officer and staff must be monitored via the CORE BANKING system. If necessary cameras be installed at this branch, more importantly in the branch manger’s chamber!!

    State Bank is a very respectable organization. It is the backbone of Financial Inclusion in rural India. In the past, SBI Itachanda has also provided much assistance to villagers of the area. We all look forward to doing our business with State Bank of India. We all earnestly admire the efforts by SBI authorities to take banking to the poor in the remotest parts of India through its Branch and ATM network. Now these efforts should not turn futile due to a few crooked people like Pijush Barman and his associates. They are maliciously denying the services of the bank to its customers.

    Regional Office, Burdwan and more particularly Local Head Office, Kolkata has to be vigilant about the activities of this branch. RESPONSIBILITY & ACCOUNTABILITY of each official must be ascertained by the Controlling Offices at Burdwan & Kolkata. SOME MONITORING by the different administrative offices, of the work performed by each official and other staff of the Itachanda branch is required. Surprise visits by senior SBI officials will be the best deterrent. It that way manipulations by the branch manager and other officials can be diminished. Farmers, school teachers, state govt. employees, school/college students must not be inconvenienced due to activities of a few unscrupulous individuals.

    SBI authorities are earnestly requested to investigate the workings of this Itachanda branch, including the various activities of branch manager Pijush Barman. It is to be kept in mind that in the past this branch manager has been very vindictive towards customers whenever any complaints have been raised against the branch. To save this Itachanda branch and its poor customers from ruin, individuals like Pijush Barman and his associates needs to be immediately transferred to some insignificant posting, along with some exemplary punishment for their misdeeds.

    Betterment of Services at SBI is our Desire.

    Default SBI ATM Card Complaint

    Dear Sir/Madam,

    I have a savings account (010288167296) with Vivekananda Road Branch, Kolkata, West
    Bengal.

    I have used Behala Ashoka Cinema Corporation Bank ATM (ATM WDL-6220180165100034660
    504456848005 02310649) today (13.4.09) for withdrawal amount Rs.3000/-.

    A bad experience I have gathered. I have not received any money from the Corporation
    Bank ATM. But my account showing Rs.3000/- debited for the transaction.

    I have complained to my SBI Branch with proper documents i.e. transaction slips etc.
    But the branch manager has not initiate about the matter in my favour.

    SBI not responding about this matter.

    I need the money immediately as my mather-in-law’s health is very serious.

    Already two months passed, please arrange to credit the same to my account immediately.

    Default complaint regarding delaying in services by SBI

    respected sir,
    with due respect i want to state that myself SUMIT KUMAR
    PATEL having bank account in SBI BANK of JAYANT BRANCH in SINGRAULI
    DISTRICT(MP). its joint account with my father.i have been issued 2 atm
    cards.
    sir last year on oct.31 2008,i made a request for
    reissuing my atm card which was damaged due to same reason.
    i subbmitted my application and made call at MAIN
    BRANCH OF SBI IN MUMBAI and made my atm no. to be blocked.
    at the same next day my 200rs was also deducted from
    my account for same request.
    til now i have given 3 more applications regarding
    delaying in receiving of my atm services..til i hvn't received any
    information
    regarding why its being delayed.
    1week before i made call at
    MUMBAI BRANCH to make my conformation of my atm request, i was being told
    that they havn't received any request.sir i m student studying outside of my
    hometown.
    my father has gone thrice at office he has
    sent back after being told that they dont know anything.
    even i called to my brach manager of my
    hometown MR. S.P. MISHRA he also bursted and said dont give me threat and i
    have to do nothing.
    sir every year i am paying 100rs as 2 atm
    annual charge and i am having only 1 atm with me.
    i had confirmed at BHOPAL(MP) ,from ATM
    CHANNEL MANAGER MR.CHANDRACHUR SINGH and at MUMBAI ,still nothing has been
    done....
    plz loook over my
    problem and make some cencern over it......
    waiting for ur
    humble action.....
