My husband Sh. Balvinder Pal Singh took a health policy for whole family for 50,000 INR in 2008 from National Health Insurance Company. We made the payment on 12/09/2008. The policy number is 360501/48/08/8500002400 which is valid from 15/09/2008. We renewed the policy next year at 10/9/2008 and got the card number AHNI0300164362 with policy number 360501/48/09/2009 and the card says the policy is valid from 16/09/2009. We got the policy renewed in 2010 on 24/09/2010 we got late due to my father-in-law's death. We got the card on 27-Aug-2010.There was a gap of 8 days. The bank gave us the letter stating that, "The gap was due to sudden demise of parents of Mr. Balwinder Pal Singh and that time he was out of station. So we hereby condone the GAP in the policy and request you to please accept the POLICY 360501/48/10/8500003146". As per the new card the policy was valid from 27/09/2010.
On 25-Aug-2011 my husband was admitted to Bhagwati Hospital, sector 14, Rohini, Delhi and was diagnosed with Ustable Angina. He was released from hospital on 27/Aug/2011. We filed a cashless mediclaim but did not get any answer so we paid for it. After that we contacted the TPA SAFEWAY addressed 6/2, 1st floor, Kirti Nagar Industrial Area, Near SBI Bank, New DELHI- 110015. We got the anwer that we have to file the claim with all papers. We have already done that and since then for next 2 weeks we were told that the claim is in process.. We got a letter from the TPA dated 13/09/2011 with statement "Treating doctor certificate since when is the patient K/C/o DM/HTN/CAD.
Continuation of policy awaited from Insurance Company.
And now these guys are telling us that there was a gap in the policy and that is why the claim is rejected. I could not understand that we paid all the premium on time less the last one and we do have letter from the bank requesting the insurance company to condone the policy at their end then how can these people say that there was a gap in the policy.. How is this possible. Please help me.
