Hi There!
Can you Please provide me your guidance over the below mentioned issue. I shall be very thankful to you. I have written to IRDA as well as Insurance Ombudsman and Consumer Online Resource & Empowerment Centre but they are not cooperating with me
"Dear Sir
This is Amit Sethi from Faridabad (Haryana) and I am writing this mail to inform you about the Illegal Step of Reliance General Insurance (Health Policy). Sir, I bought a Healthwise Policy of Reliance General Insurance on 18-07-2008 having Policy Number 282510287871 by paying Premium of Rs. 1860/- online (A proof has been attached). After buying policy, I did not put any claim in the whole Policy Year So, at the time of renewal as per the terms of Policy, they given me a discount of 5% on the Premium amount. Renewed Policy Number is 28251028787101 and I paid Rs. 1471/- after discount (A proof has been attached).
Now the main concern is, Today I got renewal reminder hard copy by post i.e. My Policy renewal premium is due for the policy ending on 17-07-2010. Sir, I did not put any claim in this policy year also but they are asking to pay Rs. 4244/- to renew my current policy. The main point is, First Year I paid 1860/-, in the second year I paid Rs. 1471/- but now they are asking for Rs. 4244/- after 10% discount. Even in the received letter, they mentioned that the premium amount has been approved by IRDA (A proof has been attached).
I just want to ask, is it correct?..I expect, you will do the needful to help the policy holders. Here I would like to request you that please take this matter on higher priority and teach a lesson to Reliance General Insurance.
For your reference, My Current AGE is 29 Years..........
One more thing, I would like to say here i.e. Reliance started their General Insurance business around 3 years back and as per the health policies of Reliance, they must have to cover Pre-Existing Deceases from 2nd / 4th Year Onwards. Now they have increased their premiums up to 300% because they knew, they don’t have any excuse if any existing customer claims. Right now, in the market you can find any Health Policy with a cover of Rs. 2,00,000 at around Rs. 2500/- but Reliance is now selling at around Rs. 5000/- So, its clear meaning is to throw away existing customers and force them to switch somewhere else. Even I can do the same but I wont because I want to show Reliance i.e. Customer is the owner of the market and the terms must be customer favorable. One point i.e. Reliance is surviving on low cost in the market then what is the reason behind to increase amount of Premiums? The answer is above written statement."
