Dear Sir,
I need to bring to your attention my experience as an ICICI Bank customer.
My name is Preeti Sharma and I was using two ICICI Credit Cards #4477478275369001 & #4477462037444005 which are about 5-6 years old and due to some problems with the bank I had stopped paying the credit card dues after 2010-2011.
After few days, I got a call from some collection agency and they told us about the pending amount on one of my card, I confirmed the amount due and asked them to send settlement letter. No sooner I cleared the pending amount for the credit card #4477478275369001 on 19th Jan 2011 (Rcpt No. 1101089584 &1012410358).
After few months I got a call for the another card and told them that I would be repaying the other due amount as well. At that instance, I was suffering with some medical emergencies and hence was unable to pay that pending amount at that moment. So I asked them to give me a call back after few months.
However, today (16th Aug '11) I have got a call from a girl named Ms. Geeta. (Ph. 8860341131). She told me that people from Chennai (Ph. # 09840424273) were calling her and saying, "Preeti (me) and you have done some fraud with ICICI bank and Preeti has used her documents to get a loan of Rs 12 Lacs from the bank. Now you need to pay the entire amount."
She managed to get my number from those agency people and discussed the issue with me.
To me it was really surprising and I denied her complaint as I didn't even know her at all. Also i have never taken any loan from ICICI bank.
After sometime I received call from recovery agency from Chennai (04439243750), the recovery agent Ms. Rupa told me that I have done some fraud with ICICI and she would take some stern action against me. She was not ready to listen to me at all and transferred the call to her manager- 'Mr. Gaurav'. This guy started abusing me and used obscene language (which I can’t even share). To which I disconnected the call. Since then, they have started calling me and Geeta on our respective numbers and started harassing us on phone. Also they have got my official number and started abusing me on phone. ‘Mr. Gaurav’, the self proclaimed ICICI Investigation Supervisor is still calling me at regular intervals and using obscene and threatening language on calls. He is also threatening me and my family to face consequences and now i am worried that he would either cause harm to my family or my job.
These are not the only statements that the bank executive used, but were also accompanied by an offensive and abusive behavior and language, which is legally and ethically against the Human Rights and Indian Penal Code.
Please suggest as I need to take some stern legal action against Mr. Gaurav and Ms. Rupa for such inhuman behavior and for the mental harassment. Also they have shared my details with Geeta and accused me of forgery (I have used her documents to get a loan from ICICI). On what grounds can they blame me in front of unknown people??? The situation created by them was defamatory and embarrassing. I request ICICI authorities to answer few of these queries:
1. Is it the way to treat a consumer??? My intentions to pay the amount were always clear and that’s the reason I cleared my outstanding for the previous card. I am really upset with the way these collection agencies/investigation teams are harassing their consumers.
2. How can these collection agency guys share my personal details with other people without my consent?
3. How can they accuse me of FORGERY??? It’s really defamatory and highly unacceptable.
4. How they have used such unethical, intolerable and abusive language??? That was a kind of mental assault against a women and has actual caused mental harassment to me.
5. Why have they called on my official number without my permission?
Please look into the matter and help me in getting justice.
P.S. ALL THESE INSTANCES HAVE TAKEN PLACE DURING 2010-2011.
