Dear Sir,
Unauthorised Transaction on my Barclays Bank Credit Card No. 4339 5013 6971 6627.
On 11/09/2011 I received a SMS stating that transaction on Rs. 8000/- was attempted on my Credit Card, and that if you have not transacted then contact customer care. I called the customer care and was informed by the officer that already two transaction for Rs. 8000/- and Rs. 2100/- had taken place. I immediately told the customer care officer Ms. Afroz to block the card. (No SMS was sent for both the successful transaction on 11/09/2011, Why was an SMS not been sent?). She told me that both the transaction were online transaction and are made to Bharti Airtel. I was provided the transaction i.d. of both the payments
1) Transaction I.D. 027415 to Bharti Airtel
2) Transaction I.D. 037385 to Bharti Airtel
I told her that for online payment my Verified by Visa password is required and I am sure that I have not given anyone my password. I asked her to hold back the payment to Merchant i.e. Bharati Airtel. She told me that she can'd do so and told me to wait till the merchant claim the amount and then you ask for a charge back from bank. I was also told by her that I should contact Bharti Airtel and inform about it.
On 11/09/2011 I wrote an email to 121@airtel.in informing about the fraud transaction and gave them all the transaction i.d.. I was contacted by their officer Mr. Prashant and was told, that I have to submit the credit card statement showing that the payment was made to Bharti Airtel. Since I didn't had a statement at that time I waited of 2 weeks and when I had the statement I again wrote to Bharti Airtel and attached the bank statement showing the amount been debited to my account. The reply I got from (Soumya T. K, Customer Care - Airtel) was that they are unable to pull out the records with the given proof.
I have already given them the transaction i.d. Why are they not able to track on whose behalf they have received the payment? In Reliance Energy online bill payment there is option that whenever a transaction dispute takes place for on line payment they reverse it back to the credit card from where the payment had been made.
Till now I have written many email to Customer Care Officers, 1st head of Barclays Credit, 2nd Head of Barclays Credit, Grievance Redressal - Barclays, Customer Care - Aritel and Appellate Officer but no action is been taken by them.
All the Barclays Bank officers have the same answer that, since my VBV password was used I am laible to pay for the unauthorised transaction but they are not trying to get the culprit caught. They should have contacted Bharti Airtel and get the details from them.
I have paid to Barclays Bank my outstanding (excluding the fraud transaction or Rs. 8000/- and Rs. 2100/-). In the present statement they have charged me with Interest and Late payment charges etc. I have also received call to make the minimum payment due. I have also received a SMS stating "overdue status adversely affects credit rating that can deny you loans and credit cards in future". I am really very disturbed by the calls and the SMS.
I have also written a email to Barclays to reverse back the Interest and other charges that is been levied on my card so that I can pay my emi.
Also I would like to point out why was SMS alert not send for a Success full transaction and SMS for an declined transaction was sent, why?. When I pointed out they sent me an SMS on 12/09/2011.
Hope that somebody would be able to help me to get out of the situation.
