I had an SBI credit card ending in 0819. I asked the collections dept. for a settlement. The bank provided a settlement amount of Rs.41000.00 in five instalments of 8200 each. The collection agent took the 1st installment of Rs8200.00 in december 2009 in cash. Next month he came to take the 2nd installment. I asked if any further deduction can be made in the settlement amount. He said that he will ask his superiors and reply. 2 days later he came and said if i paid the next 3 instalments as a lumpsum(Rs.24600.00), the fifth installment will be waived. I gave him Rs.25000.00 in cash and got receipt for Rs.20000.00 only as the agent said that his recipt book had finished. He said that he will provide the receipt for Rs.5000.00 next day and I had no reason to disbelive him. He didn't appear for next few days. when i called him,he was not well and admittd in hospital. 3 moths went by. The agent stopped picking up my calls and later changed his number. In March 2010 the collection dept started making calls for payment. I told them what had happend and even spoke to person who said he was a Manager(God Knows????). He said i have to make rest of the payment. I told them I have no money right now and asked for more time as delay was caused due the actions of the previous agent. The so called manager said the give atleast half of the remaining amount of Rs.12800.00 that month i.e. march and rest the next month. I agreed as i had no proof to show that I had earlier paid Rs.25000.00 and not Rs.20000.00 as shown in the bank records. A new agent came to collect the money. I paid Rs.6000.00 and received the receipt. On April 14th I paid the final amount of Rs6800.00 and the agent gave me receipt. He said I will receive a NOC letter within a month. One month passed by and nothing happened. I called the agent and also strted giving excuses (sir 2-3 din mein mil jayega). Now suddenly the collections has again started calling me up saying payment is due. I again told them that I have already paid the settlement amount and no payment is due. I called up the agent regarding this and he no need to worry, I will receive the NOC letter in few days. But the collection calls have not stopped.. they are continuing and the worse part is that the agent has also stopped attending my calls....
Where should I complain....How to rein these rouge agents and the banks?????
