State Bank credit cards - sure, your grandparents banked with them. Unfortunately, their security and services date back to grandpa's time too.

I went to Paris recently. Someone stole my SBI credit card on the metro there. The thief swiped my card for about Rs 39,000 before i could block it.
I called SBI to find out where the thief swiped the card.(The french police needed it) . And that was where the nightmare started.

My credit card was new, and i had not created an online login for it. My cell phone did not work as i was abroad. The people at SBI had taken down my email id wrong ( they put in an extra letter ). I had no way to get an authorization code for online log in. I called their call centre, gave them the correct contact details, waited for days for the email id to update. Finally, i was obliged to create a new id with the wrong name they had to be able to get the authorization code and log in to my card account!!
My card account took three days to show the transaction details !!!

I still haven't gotten the complete details of the transaction from our State Bank of India. I got a mail from them three weeks after the card was stolen asking for about Rs 300 if i need the information. How are the police supposed to catch the thief if the information reaches them so late???

State Bank of India has a collection of useless, irresponsible, highly uncompetitive bungling idiots who should not be trusted with customer's money. Their online security is nonexistent. They are unfit to run a bank in this day and age.
