Am a Student in a reputed college in Bangalore. It is a a residential college i.e, all students stay in campus hostels. The food in mess is outsourced to a caterer from whom the students buy coupons for whole month. Since this month, i.e, September, the buying of food coupons has been made mandatory for students. Even if a student wishes not to eat in college mess due to differences in taste, choice, eating habits etc, the college authority says that money for food will still be deducted from a student's caution money. This a Masters level college and all students are mature and old enough to make their own decisions. Can this rule of buying food from a caterer, selected by college, be imposed on student? We have tried talking to college authorities but they don't budge. In which direction should we go to deal with this situation?
