Dear Sir/Madam,
This is regarding the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), Mysore not refunding the amount of Rs 15,300 towards Master of Science (M.Sc) in IT course.
As per the KSOU prospectus for M.Sc IT, there is ONLY the mention of M.Sc for 2 year program. According to this I paid the amount of Rs 15,300 for this program on 28th Sep. Soon thereafter I came to know from one of the Guest Lecturers from the university that there is a lateral entry for B.E graduates that will give direct admission to 2nd year M.Sc. She told that I can refund the already paid amount from the University. Such being the case I went to Mysore on 01st Oct and paid the due amount for 2nd year M.Sc as per the lateral admission process. I then requested for refund of the original amoutn of Rs 15,300 but was refused by the clerks sititng outside the Registrar's office. After having a long discussion they let us meet the Registrar who appeared to be quite understanding and acknowledged our receipt to refund the amount.
Now after 2 weeks I got a letter back from the University that the amount cannot be refunded. In the Prospectus there is a clause that says "Amount once paid cannot be refunded". However in the Prospectus nowhere is it mentioned about the Lateral Admission process. This means that they kept us in the dark by not specifying the process correctly. Such being the case it is the University's mistake and not the Student's.
I request you to please help in this matter as the amount is not a meagre one.
Thanking in advance!!
Regards,
Gautam
