I had booked two tickets to Kuala Lumpur for my cousin and I for the 23rd of July 2010 by Indian Airlines. On the 21st of july I received a call from Air India (Delhi Number on mobile) stating that the IC flight had been cancelled and we were being accommodated on Air India Express on the same day. As I Had to get a name change endorsement for my cousin I went to the city office of Air India. The staff there gave me print out with the endorsed name. on reconfirming our seats the person assured us that we could go straight and check in. When we landed at the airport at 10.30 pm we were informed at the counter that there was no booking in our names and were asked to meet the Duty Manager. He informed that the flights ere full and there was no way they could accommodate us. This was at 11.30 pm in the night. After much begging and pleading we were asked to meet another senior person at the office who asked us to go to Indian Airlines for an endorsement and then get back to him. After a long wait and being made to run from pillar to post we were finally given two seats. The smirks on the faces of the officers were like they were doing us a favor. Fortunaltely they confirmed our return by Air India also.
After our hoilday at Singapore we returned by Air India. On reaching the airIndia counter at the airport the gentleman there said that the boarding pass will not be issued in the amended name but iin the name on the ticket. He spoke to a lady senior officer of Indian origin at the airport who very rudely told him that it cannot be done. Whe we reached the immigtation desk the officer there requested us to go back to the counter and get the boarding pass wmended.A very senior officer of the immigration services accompanied us to the Air India Counter and requested for a new boarding pass. But the senior officere there was very rude and loud and refused to do so. After a long argument it was finally done and we returned home not with good memories of our stay at Singapore but with a bad taste of staff of our national Carrier , their indifferent way of treating customers, their rude behaviour and their absolutely inefficient way of conducting business. It is no wonder that our national carrier has been voted the worst carrier in the world.
