It was a nightmare on SPICEJET (SG131) flying from Mumbai to Kochi on 23/10/2011. The scheduled departure from Mumbai airport was of 8.45am. After flying for about an hour all of a sudden in midair we were informed that due to some TECHNICAL snag the aircraft is making an emergency landing at Mumbai airport. The passengers were clueless for a long period sitting in the aircraft with no further information at all. We were not sure if we would at all fly the same day or if the flight is cancelled!! When all the passengers demanded explanation for such an irresponsible conduct SPICEJET announced that the same aircraft is being rectified to fly us again. We were all shaken at the thought of flying in the same aircraft. My six year old son could smell something burning inside the aircraft and SPICEJET was trying to dupe us by hiding the real (obvious)reason of the technical fault. Finally we again boarded the same SG131 late afternoon say around 3PM. Again after flying for an hour we had to return to Mumbai airport for another round of technical fault. Now, this was highly irresponsible and a clear case of mismanagement.
How could the same damaged aircraft viz; SG 131 fly with burnt engines risking the life of over 250 passengers?
To make matters worse there was no refreshment served since morning. Senior citizens, children were crying out of hunger and sickness. An aged lady literally begged for food yet her demand went unanswered.
This is a sheer case of negligence and inefficient management. At every instance the Captain and other senior management staff were evading queries of passengers. Infact, the Captain never bothered to show up!!
I on behalf of the entire SG131 would request you to look into the matter SOS. The few passengers whom I met later have promised not to fly by SPICEJET again.
We all demand the compensation amount from SPICEJET airlines along with a note of apology to all the passengers on board SG131.
