I went to the pizza hut located at rd no 12 banjara hills,hydreabad on 4 july 2010.In the bill apart from 14% vat they charged 10 service tax.As per my knowlege they should charge only vat.I had to pay additional 10%. i want to cliam that amount.my email id dilch124@rediffmail.com

Pizza Hut has ALWAYS charged VAT (Total+Service Charge). I know it is wrong. I am happy that finally someone else also noticed it. I am SURPRISED that an MNC has a wrong billing system. By the way, I am from Delhi so the VAT is 12.5% here.

I am posting this complaint because i got very bad experience at pizza hut...
My total food order bill was Rs. 488 but my bill was Rs. 617

here is the detail

488 Bill
061 Vat 12.5
048 service tax 10%
020 service charge
------
617 Total bill

It is double tax has been recovered by pizza hut holder

I recommend to all readers, never visit any of the pizza hut

Well i think u r a bit mistaken here. it is not 24 %. it would be 24 % if the 14% VAT is charged only for the food. But at Dodsal (tats Pizza hut/KFC/Taco Bell) for the southies, they seem to charge VAT even for the service charge. so tat means a bit more than 24%, not less anyway. I had raised this issue in Jan 2011 with Pizza hut and had received a call from Srikant (9900960635) who said that Pizza hut falls in a class of restaurant where VAT applies to s.charge as well. I did not find that very convincing and have stopped visiting outlets unless its totally free.
