I want to highlight the malpractices Max Hospital is following -
- they charge compulsory registration fees of Rs. 100, it used to be free registration but recently they have started to charge. The issues I have with this malpractice are -
- why should patient pay for the cost of database management cost? It is the cost of running business for Max and they should not pass it on to patient.
- there is no direct or indirect benefit for the patient, all the more reason to not charge it to patient.
- no other hospital charges it and Max should also not charge it.
- the registration also does not says that it is a paid OPD registration fees.
- service tax is not shown on the registration fees so probably Max is evading the service tax liability.

Needless to re-emphasise how extra ordinarily the hospital charges are exorbitant as compared to what the MRP of various medicines and equipment.
