Default Action to be taken on AIRTEL for recycling my Pre-Paid mobile number

    Hi,
I had purchased a Pre-Paid Airtel mobile Sim card in 2006 with a validity of 15 years.

However, recently when I had to go on Study leave (for close to 5 months), I did not use the Mobile number because I was out of Karnataka.

Recently Airtel has recycled my Mobile number without even contacting me and informing me.

I had given this mobile number to various vendors to contact me for the last 4 years.

Now I cannot be reachable to all of them.

I request the Consumer forum to take action on AirTel and provide me justice.

Default Action to be taken on AIRTEL for recycling my Pre-Paid mobile number

    Hi,

I had purchased a Pre-Paid Airtel mobile Sim card in 2008 with a validity of 11 years. And I was using that number in abroad with international roaming facility. In March 2010 I went India for my vacation and I came back aboard in May 2010, from that day my number roaming facility not working, so that I could not make any call and recharged also. In August 2010 Airtel has recycled my Mobile number without even contacting me and informing me.

I had given this mobile number to various business vendors to contact me for the last 2 years. Now I cannot be reachable to all of them. It is very difficult for me.

I request the Consumer forum to take action on AirTel and provide me justice.

    Default Recycled my number

    Hi All,

I have been holding my airtel number fo last 10-11 years(even when it was 9/18 rs per call) and few days back they just recovered my number without informing me. I had balance and also submitted my address proof before this happened. I would request consumer forum to do somthing about this.

    regards,
    Laxman

    Default Number recycled

Same here. I had a 10 year old number which has been recycled, despite submitting documents. It's really sad to see such outcomes. Barring services and restoring them should have been the approach. I strongly condem it and request for some serious action.

    Default Airtel Prepaid Number recycle

Hello, I had a prepaid number 9902306106.This connection was taken on 2007 with proper address proof and verification. However on 17.08.2011 this number is disconnected,

Later that evening, when customer care was contacted, they said documents (address & ID proof) have to be re-submitted. I went to the Airtel relationship center (Mysore) on 18.08.2011 and submitted the documents. On 19.08.2011 they reconnected.

On 22.11.2011 the connection again got disconnected. When contacted airtel customer care they said the number is recycled and you will not get this number. On 23.11.2011 I again submitted the documents to Airtel relationship center (Mysore). I emailed to Nodal officers and also appellate officrers who did not care to reply.

How can they recycle the number which is in use and also without any information to the customer. How can I file suit in consumer forum.

    Thanks,
    Sunil

Default Airtel Number recycled without informing

    Hi All,

My airtel number 9741434878 was recycled 2 days back. Yesterday when I called the airtel customer care and talked to customer care executive and even to his supervisor, they simply told me that nothing can be done to get back my number, which is really ridiculous!

I have changed my SIM card 2 weeks back, when my SIM card wasn't working and resubmitted my documents at that time and paid them the fee for a new SIM card. Yesterday, the supervisor told me that they sent me a SMS to resubmit by documents. Although I did not get any such SMS.

    Questions :-

1.) How can airtel do such irresponsible things when it comes to someone's mobile number? Because I have lots of personal information coming up on that mobile number everyday.
2.) How many times do they need us to re-submit our documents? And why do they need it so many times?

Now I am really out of my thoughts as to what needs to be done, since it might happen again.

Consumer Forum - Please do something in order to help normal people like me. not to experience such things again. I am already suffering. I don't want others to suffer the same. Please help us in taking strict actions against AIRTEL!

    Thanks,
    Dibya

    Default Connection cancelled

I had been using my Airtel prepaid mobile number for about 4 years until August this year. I reside outside India and usually make 2 trips per year when I use my number. On every visit to India, I top-up/recharge my phone numerous times and increase the validity by enough so that it is usable when I visit again. This time when I visited India, my phone connection worked just fine for the first day. Second day, it was abruptly disconnected. I tried visiting the head office in Jaipur and called customer care at least 5 times each but in vain.

My connection was disconnected saying that it was inactive for 6 months and not being used. But, it was used the day I landed in India. Also, when in the US, I usually have it on for about 15 days each month to receive SMSes. There is no way my number was inactive for 6 months. It is such a hassle to get a new number and give it to all my friends and relatives without knowing when it will again be disconnected. I will also have to go through the pain of changing my mobile number in my bank records, online trading accounts, etc.

Can I get some help on this issue? Please contact at lakshya.agr@gmail.com

    Thanks.

    Default Airtel recycled number

I have been using my Airtel number for the past year and I must say it has not given me problems till this time. It was active till 20th Nov when I received texts on it. On 22nd I noticed it said "Emergency calls only" so I called the helpline number. The customer service representative told me that I have to resubmit my documents again as he could not find my details and I should do so in 15 days to avoid my number getting recycled. I asked my parents to submit my documents at a relationship center as I reside outside India and use the number when I am visiting. They did so on 25th Nov. When they appraoched the Airtel relationship centre they were told my number is recycled, how is it possible when it was available till 20th Nov . I also recharged on 23rd Nov in case balance was an issue. I usually keep it on and charge it every month and also use it 1-2 times a month to keep the number active.

There was no warning or message to indicate that it was going to be disconnected and recycled. I am really not happy as this number is shared with many people and is my primary contact number.

    Angry Airtel (GPRS Service)

    Hello Sir,

I am Mukesh Sachdev. I am using Retailer Demo Sim Card of Airtel (9898664515).
Actually I was using GPRS Service in my Handset Nokia X2. But right now I am not using it and also Deleted GPRS settings from my handset. But still Airtel deducts balance like 0.30 paisa, 0.50 paisa regularly since 15 days.. I requested them and also filed complaint, but their response is very ridiculous they even not responding well.
    Please do needful for me...
I hope I have came to the right place for this solution...

    Thank You....

I have been using my old airtel number 9940543465.
Suddenly i get the message invalid sim
I emailed airtel but they never took any action so this vacation when i went to india they told me that number is gone with all the credit and that i had to take a new number
Thus i took a new airtel number 8754533266 and again changed all my communucation information in the banks. I was told i need to recharge every 6 months and keep cell active so i have been getting incoming and been doing outgoing sms . Now I am in Saudia Arabia for job purpose. And my number was working in roaming.. Now my connection suddenly got disconnected it has been only 3 months since i left India and I contacted with Airtel customer care by mail.I dont expect a positive response since i already have lost one number to them . Maybe i shouldnt get airtel again . The only reason i have this is beacause it works in Saudi. My husband has a bsnl lifetime and it has no problem it works as soon as we land in India.
I choose airtel since bsnl doesnt work in saudi and i cant use it for banking purposes. This is number is impostant since it is registered with my SBI and ICICI Mobile Banking. If I need to change my mobile number with bank, I have to go there in person. So if anybody from Airtel reading this message, please help me to get my number back. This is my 2nd number that i will lose . If this is not rectified I guess you will lose a customer. How can the number become just invalid with no prior information when it is advertised as a lifetime mobile
Please restore service to my airtel number 8754533266 since i already lost over 500 credit in my old number. This number also has a large balance in it and i cant go to the bank till next year to change my mobile information

    Please help

Same here I received a call from your endairtel Same answer as last time the number has been recycled . Nothing can be done. I think you are cheating us since now i have lost over 750 Rs on both Sims and you have advertised as lifetime service. I won't ever get airtell since your service is horrible and now thanks to you i have no mobile banking services for the next 10 months.
Once this happened I shouldnt have taken airtel again . Now I have surely learnt my lesson . NO MORE AIRTEL.

Without any prior notice you can't just give my number to someone so now all my banking information will be going to some stranger. You are breaching our privacy and surely I hope you lose many customers over this. As I can see already there is many complaints against you. Hope someone takes you to the consumer courts and you lose. If I was in India surely I would put a case against you

    Default Airtel sucks customer privacy

    Dear people,

This is a tactic used by airtel marketing to sell more connection to get their incentives. I hate Airtel, it breaches the privacy of all the people and never in my life time I'll use.. I'm helpless to get my number back.. i dont know what airtel will say if the new customer who use my sim complains about the problem they face coz of using my previous number..

I've the sim of DOCOMO in the same state, when i left india.. but it is temporarily deactivated, when i call customer care and ask them to activate. they did it and i just got activated.

I would advice everyone, airtel cheats us a lot, it breach the security as well as. better use mobile portability and change to BSNL or docomo.

i really feel bad of using airtel for the last 6 years.. airtel sucks
