9Greetings!
This complaint is in reference to a mobile handset repairing issue wherein I had given my Blackberry Bold 9000 for repairs at M/s. Acma Mobtech, Mira Road East. Initially, they promised to check the handset for any damages/issues present. Any issue/repair upto Rs.200/- would be done free of cost. After the check was done, I received a call from them stating that the total cost would round up to Rs. 1150/- for upgrading the software and resetting my phone from a dead condition. I agreed. I was promised to receive the handset within 3 business days. I was waiting for their call and give me timely updates with regards to my phone which they never did as promised. I had to call them every evening, after my work hours to confirm whether everything is sorted or not. The receptionist, initially told me that they are trying to upgrade my handset's OS to BB OS 7. Now considering the fact that a Blackberry 9000 does not support OS 7, i conveyed the same to them. The next day, I had to call them back to confirm the delivery of my handset to which they stated that I could visit their store and collect the same. I paid Rs. 1150/- and took the handset. I decided to use my recently repaired handset sometime later because I did not have sufficient funds to buy a new charger for my handset. A week later, i tried using the phone - I inserted the SIM card, got my Blackberry services re-activated and tried using my phone. All of a sudden, the phone's OS shut down leaving me speechless. I tried resetting the battery, but it was of no use whatsoever. I called Acma Mobtech again and spoke to the same operator. This time she stated that since you did not use your phone for a week, that seems to be the problem, to which I told her that the phone is not a bengali sweet which if not opened or consumed will get soggy and turn bad in a week's time. I went to their office this morning, simply to be told that I have to spend Rs. 1150/- more for a new battery and that there needs to be a OS upgrade done for my handset. I was now back to square one. I took my phone and went to another nearby mobile repairing store where the engineer said that the total cost to repair my handset would not be more than Rs. 800/-. This morning, I came to know that there are many like me, in Mira Road who are not too happy with Acma Mobtech and that they have 4-5 cases registered against them.
My point over here is, that:
1) When I had given my handset for the very first time and since the staff at Acma Mobtech had promised for a complete check of my phone, then why wasn't the battery issue detected at the beginning?
2) Why was the staff at the repair store not so familiar with the Blackberry OS upgrade statistics? If they do not have the knowledge and the ability to find a resolution, then they do not have any right to open a handset repairing shop in the first place.
3) They have a standard cost for any handset repairing issue - Rs. 1150/-.
I hope to receive a positive reply in regards to this. Sincerely hoping for a resolution.
Thanks & Regards,
Kartik Sharma
