I have purchased a Motorola Fire XT handset on 11th December 2011. Noticed later on that the "back" soft key is not working.
I tried to get in touch with Motorola - however, their email response was that I get in touch with a service centre locally in Bangalore on the 28th of December at the address below

Having done that reverted back to Motorola with the work order number and IMEI as they had requested initially.
Now, it has been more than a week and the service centre guys are not responding correctly (their stock answer is that they will get in touch with me once done) where as the initial assurance was that I would get the handset back in 2-3 days. Repeated follow-ups with Motorola have proved to be one of the most dismal experiences as they get on the defensive and they will get in touch with me within 48 business hours (which is 6 working days, by the way).
The complaint / incident number registered at Motorola is: 111226-005709
The apathy and disdain in honouring customer service really appals me. For a company like Motorola, which has now been taken over by Google, one would expect higher standards of service and more discretion while choosing their service partners.
This has been a thoroughly spoilt start of the new year due to Motorola's insensitivity. I am seriously contemplating legal action against Motorola and the service centre folks. This is my first attempt. If there is no response even to this post (which I think is a high probability), I shall definitely go ahead and bring a law suit against Motorola and the service centre.
In the meantime, to all those consumers out there, if you are planning to purchase a Motorola mobile handset, do think through very carefully; their service (both from Motorola themselves and their service partners) is absolutely pathetic.
