I purchased a SE vivaz pro about 7 months back in Pune and since mid Jan 2011 the handset is with SE service centre.
For what??
Well, one fine day i realized that my handset was automatically pressing some keys without any intervention. This continued for a couple of days, so I tried a software update and master reset as well, but nothing stopped the problem. So I took the handset to the service centre who said that the touch screen needs to be replaced. Since it was in warranty they said they can do it without any cost.
Believe it or not, I was told that it would require 20 working days to repair it. Since i had no other choice, I agreed. Finally i called up the service centre preceisely after 42 calendar days (considering that it was more than 20 working days by any sane calculation). The service centre guys informed me that my handset was still lying un-repaired, because the part is not available. When I tried to know the reason for the delay, they gave me the number of SE support centre (1800 11 1800 and +91-11-39011111).
I was expecting some sensible response which never happened. I was told "IT IS GOING TO TAKE SOME MORE TIME FOR THE HANDSET TO BE REPAIRED"
Obviously I needed a better answer than this, so I was asked to redial the number and select option '3' to speak to someone senior in the support hierarchy.
I got the same response here as well, and on pressing hard, I was given a date of March 15th. I asked how realistic is this date and whether i would surely get my handset on this date, immediately it was moved ahead to 20th March. Now i got frustated, and asked for a gaurantee if I would get my handset at the said date. The response was "No". So i asked what according to the so called "Senior" person would be the date when i would surely get my handset and the response was "Cannot give you a date"
I lost my cool and wanted to speak some higher authority at the support centre present there, but the guy over the phone (Mr. Ankur Yadav) said that he was the highest person to whom I can reach and there is no body else i could speak to regarding my problem.
THIS IS SHEER NONSENSE AS FAR AS SONY'S SUPPORT SYSTEM GOES !! STILL I AM WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO GIVE ME A RESPONSE OTHER THAN, "YOUR HANDSET IS YET NOT REPAIRED AND IT WILL TAKE SOME MORE TIME BECAUSE THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE"
By no strech of imagination, I can comprehend how it can take such a long time when all that you have to do is to replace the touch screen. And if the parts aren't availabale, why not replace my handset.
Now its 25th March and I am still running from pillar to post for my handset to get repaired.
Please let me know how can you somebody in here help me.
I want to take SE to task !!
