I have a number 9971799975. I have 3G services from Airtel activated on my phone. This complaint is regarding my bill of August and i am putting it here because the complaint is not being resolved by Airtel for about 2 months now. I have had to explain to atleast 20 of your reps who promise to come back, but its always a different rep next time and am constantly being harassed by repeated phone calls from the reps. I have mailed to 121 too but they are also giving me the same answers.

The Complaint

I used 340 MB of data on my phone for the complete cyle i.e. Aug 8-Sep 8. Initially i had your Rs 200 plan activated on my phone for 4 days i.e. Aug 8-Aug 12 which gave me 250MB of free data. Thereafter i upgraded my 3G plan to Rs 675 which gave me 1.2 GB of free data. You have sent me RS 2500 as excess data charges. How??? When i complained 4 5 times, a rep gave me a discount of Rs 1000 randomly subject to further investigation. And now your reps are claiming that whatever discount could be given has been already given??? What is the basis????

Working

Prorata:

#1) Free Data based on Plan activated for 26 days = 26/31 *1.2GB = 1GB. (because i had 1.2 GB data plan on my phone for 26 days of the month).
I used only 340 MB. So no excess charges should be applied..

#2) Even assuming that i had never upgraded and stuck with your lowest rental plan i.e. Rs 200 for the whole month.
Free data = 250MB
Data used = 340 MB
Excess data = 90 MB.
Rate/MB for excess data = 20p/30KB = 20p*1024/30 = Rs 6.8 /MB
Excess charges that could have been levide = maximum of 90* 6.8 = Rs 600 approx.
This is the max charge that could have been levied assuming your lowest rental package. But i used your highest rental package for 26 days of the month.

What is your basis for charging Rs 2500 extra. I cant understand and your billing department continues saying prorata, which i believe is above the heads of most of your reps who understand nothing about pro-rata except for ranting about it. Please explain and adjust or i would have no alternative other than cancelling 2 of your connections and going to consumer court.
