I had taken a postpaid connection on 1st of june 2011 from Airtel.
Mobile Number :- 09972440002 under Rs.300/- monthly rental plan,
wherein the company (Airtel) offered me the following tariff.
* 750 local & std minutes free every month
* Daily 100 local & national SMS free.
*1GB data free for the first month,thereafter 30p/20kb.

I used this number for 3 days during which my usage was,
24 voice calls of 82 minutes.
258 MB data.(out of 1024 MB free since its the first month of
activation),which means another
766 MB data usage still left to be used during the month in remaining 27 days.
On 3rd june 2011,The company sent me an SMS stating that my bill for 3
days amounted to Rs.3940/- which was to be paid immediately for
continuing to use the services or else the outing services on my
mobile would be barred.

I went to Airtel office for the details of the bill but they said they
do not have any details for the same & that they’ll be able to get the
details only after the bill gets generated at the month end.

On the very next day morning (i.e.4th of june 2011), the company had
barred outgoing services on my number.

Again i went back to the airtel office asking the reason,they said
that i had crossed my credit limit.hence, i’ve to pay Rs.3940/- to
continue to use the services on the above mentioned number
(9972440002).I requested them to activate my outgoing service & told
them that i’ll pay the bill amount once i get the details of the same
but they refused & told that i’ll not be allowed to use the services
unless i pay them the bill amount.Further, i dont even know what my
credit limit was nor did the company or the Salesman ‘ Mr.Kumar
‘(Ph.08105552555) intimate me regarding the same.

I didn’t understand what was going on & without the details of the
bill’ how could i simply pay off Rs.4000/- for just 3 days of usage.
After a month’s time, the i got a bill asking me to pay Rs.2529/-.
The company has billed on prorata basis,i.e., according to them, the
free service of 1GB is divided into 30 days & the remainder is
multiplied into 3 days as free usage,which is approximately 102
MegaByte & the rest 156 MegaByte is charged on my head because i
refused to pay Rs.4000/- on the very 3rd day of activation of the sim.

My question is…..

1) If the company is to calculate the free 1GB data usage on Per Day
basis, then, why does they sell the product saying 1 GB is meant to be
used in one month?

2) If there is something called credit limit given to customers, why
is it not calculated after the customer uses the free services offered
by the company.?

3)Why does the company charges bill for those services which are given
FREE while calculating the credit limit. What does free service mean?
why do the company charge monthly rental then?

4)Why all these backdrops such as ‘Credit limit’, ‘Prorata based
calculation’, ‘charges on free services offered as free’ are not
intimated to the customer at the time of giving connection &
collecting ‘deposit money’ from the customer?

5)Why should i suffer if the company has barred my services on its own
within 3 days from activation?
I was not allowed by the company to utilise the tariff offered to me
by the company.upon that, the entity generates a hefty bill?
Its the company’s fault to disconnect the services in just 3 days of
activation & not mine.
Ifs the company’s fault if its calculating FREE Services as if its a
paid service,at the time of calculating credit limit & not mine.
