    Angry Airtel landline and broadband: Bill for canceled line

    I am Srivatsava and was a customer of Airtel landline, Bangalore carrying number: 08042013358, with A/C no: 15296632

    I had requested for cancellation of line on 19 August. 2010 and had a confirmation from Airtel customer support of deactivation of line by 23August, 2010. I received a bill in the September for outstanding charges amounting to Rs.898 billed till September 4, 2010. I have paid the bill and confirmed with Airtel, calling their customer support, that all the transactions regarding cancellation are complete from my side.
    (Ref: complaint no: 38727326.)

    However in October I get another bill, with number 988097381 for Rs.881, for the same telephone, a line that is canceled more than a month back. I have raised another complaint for cancellation of this bill on 13 October and again followed it up on 20th october to no effect. (Ref complaint no: 38958274)

    Starting from August 2010 to October 2010 I have been struggling to get out of Airtel landlines service. I have more than 4 registered complaint numbers on my hand. Once complaint is registered there will be follow-up call but action on the complaint is missing. Its been frustrating to call multiple times and explain the scenario from scratch to the support personnel. I feel that consumer is being harassed while opting to cancel a connection.

    I wish Consumer-forum will take up this issue and see to it that the mentioned bill charged for a canceled line is withdrawn. Also please penalize Aitel for their harassment of the consumer. Airtel executives please wake up atleast now and correct the synchronization issue between your billing and cancellation departments lest you will lose your customers by large.

    Hi Mr. Rakesh

    Is there any further progress on the complaint or is it still being worked upon.

    I dont know whether you guys are really following up this complaint apart from sending a standard messages like work in progress.. As already mentioned cancellation request was made in August. Without any usage I got bill for month of september as well..Now in november I am still fighting my way to get these bills cancelled .

    If i dont hear any further progress from you in next few days it will necessiate me to send Airtel a court notice for harassment of customers requesting for disconnection.

    I am qouting below your lines which is from your mail on 27th october..

    " This is to inform that your concern listed on 26 Oct. 2010 is been worked upon. We would require some more time to resolve your concern. We assure you that we are committed to resolving the issue to your satisfaction."

    Is there any further progress or still time is not enough??

    Hey Rakesh

    I dont find any reply from you or Airtel regarding my complaint.

    It is rather shameful fact that despite giving 1 month time to correct the blunder Airtel is not able to do it. Its better if Airtel accepts it is out of its reach to resolve its own mistake. If Airtel has any civic
    responsibility please come out and answer my mails.

    And all you folks who are following the mail please note how irresponsible Airtel is and please never ever be its doomed customers.
