i have a airtel DTH connection at my home.the connection is in the name of ranjan mitra.i have a multiple connection on the customer id 3007026357 ,one being HD and the other being a normal dth connection.now i want to disconnect my secondary connection which s normal dth as my tv is not working.i placed the request for the same on 9/10/2011 and i was assured it will be done in the next 48hrs.

now today when the given time is about to expire,i get another call from aitel's representative stating that if i want to discontinue the connection i will have to handover the set top box to airtel (which i purchased from airtel some months back) without any money back.what the hell is that even supposed to mean???i was said this is the company rule,i was never told about this rule when i applied for multiple connection nd neither was i told this when i placed the request for disconnection,now when its time for action i am being informed about a company rule which does not make any sense.i purchase a thing from airtel for a lifetime and if due to some reason i cannot continue taking service from airtel,i will have to return the thing to airtel without any money back????then why did i even purchase it??what is purchase supposed to mean?it would have been understandable if i would have taken it on rent from airtel.i need a proper explanation for this.

this is not how things work normally,if its a company rule i need a justification,and i am not going to handover the set top box without money back because it belongs to me and i will decide what to do with it.i can only hand it over if i get my money back or else not,and neither am i going to let airtel deduct the monthly rental for that connection.if airtel still does that i will disconnect the whole airtel subscription,not recharge it after the present balance is over and even keep both the set top boxes with myself.i will better opt for a another dth service provider which are plenty in market.thank god i know the senseless rule of airtel now, atleast i can save some other common people from being cheated by airtel.
this is horrible piece of company rule i have ever heard..i am not going to comply with a rule which does not have any meaning.
i am writing here to reach some people and inform this and save them from getting cheated by airtel.people choose any dth service but never airtel because choosing airtel wou mean choosing trouble and fraud.
