I have been DISH TV customer for TWO years and finally, we were in a place where we could buy a good LED 40 inch TV. We bought the TV 1 week ago and thought that since our experience with DISH TV had been OK so far, we would take a child connection(second connection) with Rs. 170/- per month from them rather than pay a huge initial connection amount added to 300 odd per month to other competing DTH providers. We also recently moved to a new apartment in the same housing colony, so I thought we would call and tell them of both our needs: shifting old connection(South Platinum- Rs.325/- per month) to the new apartment as well as taking of child connection.
The technician came and did everything, but there was still some wire clamping, etc left to do and the new connection was inactive and he said he lived very far in Goregaon, so we told him to come and do the remaining things the next day and he agreed. The old connection was working whereas the new connection was not so since we had one TV we could see, we were happy enough. Since the next day, the technician is nowhere to be found and his mobile number is unreachable. He must have run off with the money(as we found out later).
So after 3 days of tolerance, we called the DISH TV customer care and told them that the new connection is still not working and to activate it. They said they hadn't received ANY MONEY and that as per their records, the VC number of the new connection did not belong to me! After more days of sending subscriber application forms again and again to prove we have the set top box and dish and had paid the money(THEY sent us the technician for god's sake! Shouldn't they know that we have the set top box?!), during which I had to send tens of mails with them replying with the usual "we are helpless" mail, we changed our tone to an aggressive one and they finally started the new connection yesterday(after SIX days!).
But then what?! We didn't get the Language Pack of the parent(old) connection. Instead, they had put North Language Zone. So we called them today morning and told them to change it thinking it should be a minor thing. They then say it is NOT registered as a child connection but as a SEPARATE individual connection of Rs.325/- per month at the same address for LAUGHING OUT LOUD! WHO would take a full separate individual connection for 325 at the same house when we can get it for just 170?!!! They said we would have to pay Rs.650/- per month instead of 495(325+170)!
We have threatened to take them to court but as of now, there is no progress and we will definitely go to consumer court if this blasphemy continues.
Be advised, after all this, I would never recommend DISH TV to anyone and we are going to stick up notices about our experience in our colony notice board! We are very seriously contemplating changing our connections to either TATA Sky, Reliance BIG TV or Airtel Digitel TV within a week.
NEVER buy DISH TV!
