Default Malyalam channels removed from TATA SKY Without Notice

I have taken a connection of Tata Sky South Jumbo Pack with a promise of service for 7 malayalam channels . But last month without our knowledge and notification they removed 3 of the channels . On calling them they told us that they were removing these channels so as to accomadate new popular channels. ( By their talk I am sure these new channels are not Malayalam channels . ) It is their way to use existing bandwidth . I as a malayalee customer feel really insulted and would like to take them to consumer redressal for denying me services I am paying for. This is after trying to get them to give me a timeline when this issue will be fixed. They have no commitments.

Default Three out of seven malayalam channels removed from tata sky

    Dear TATASKY Customer Care Officer,

    1. Thank you for your unconvincing & incomplete reply as regards the basic query and really regret your making use of this opportunity to put forth all the other irrelevant bombastics........................ (Thank you for your patronage. Your feedback is very valuable & this letter addresses the point you have raised.
Our large national audience is bound to have diverse viewing patterns because it is 5 million strong, you can imagine that tastes and preferences differ across the country! And our endeavor is to satisfy people in every part of India.
At launch, Tata Sky offered just 60 channels, but in the last 3 years, that count has gone up to thrice as much. Today, Tata Sky offers 191 channels & services - each one of these channels has been picked based on its viewership & popularity. Unique interactive services have been specially designed for your whole family.

High Definition (HD) TV is the current technology wave in the TV industry today. This digital broadcasting system with higher resolution and enhanced picture and sound quality in comparison to a regular television service also consumes more bandwidth. Tata Sky has over the period of a year launched 7 asli HD (shot and broadcast in HD) channels, in keeping with todays viewing patterns.
We have tried to ensure that we have an offering for every region & every language but we also are limited by bandwidth availability.)

    2. If you have discontinued airing (telecasting / transmitting) these channels (DD Malayalam & Amritha TV) pray what could be the reason for such a decision especially regarding DD Malayalam, which is an essential Channel??????????
    3. Till when is such stoppage???????????
    4. When and how have you notified such stopping of subscribed channels????
    5. Why have you not notified these discontinuation through the well established channel of communication which is the subscriber's TV????
    6. What stops you from stopping airing many more channels for which I have already paid the charges?
    7. If you have discontinued these channels have you given any other alternative add ons as replacements or suggested reduction in the daily fare / charges??????
    8. What is the Channel Number of the E24 Channel that you say is on your "Platform"???? If it is there on your Platform then why is that I am not able to receive it???????????????

Please answer the specific query raised by the customer and avoid using the complaint as a forum to sing paeans about yourself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope to get a more realistic to the point reply.
    Yours frustrated customer

    1. Please be informed that your staid and stereotyped replies does not address the complaint made by me. As mentioned by me earlier your removing three of the seven Malayalam channels is grossly inappropriate and unacceptable. By your standards and methods you could remove the remaining four Malayalam channels and you will continue to proffer your stock reply to all my complaints. Hence please make an effort and give me pointed replies to each of the issues raised by me.
    2. In addition to the above also be kind enough to apprise me as which are the other cahnnels in Hindi; English and other Regional Indian language channels that you have, after research of viewership decided and removed from your platform just as you did in the case of the three Malayalam channels. Also if your reserch and study have found any new Malayalam channels that could in the near and foreseeable future be brought on your TATASKY platform.
    Yours faithfully,

    Tata Sky Customer Care

    Dear Tata Sky Representative,

    I am bit confused here.
What are the means of identifying the number of viewers for a channels?
I dont think in India ( or any where else) set-top-box software can legally tell you the customer watching channel information ( and no way to find this). Then how you got to know Amirta TV and DD Malayalam are not much watched by people?
Then, it must be your panel decided to remove some channel from your service ( remember it is not free service) for your own benefits( which I dont think acceptable).

If any channel can be removed from the service, then how come you can ask customer to subscribe channels by checking channels published in your website?. What if taka sky decided to provide on DD National from next month on-wards? With your explanation, I feel that is also very valid option from your end. Correct me if I am wrong.

One more thing, I never subscribed to a channel viewed by the max customers, I selected a package which I am interested. I dont think you can just think from your benefit front by fooling so many people in India.
