I live in Thane,Mumbai,
I ve noticed, for many years now, coz i ve to go to mumbai everyday for my work,
ever since the Helmets have become compulsory the police department has never worn a helmet and only when they have to do cases as their officers have ordered them to do so and complete their cases you will see them wearing helmets... why are the beat marshalls in Thane and Mumbai supposed to wear helmets when they ride bikes on roads.. why only common people has to suffer.. why when we drive our cars we wear seat belts... and police do not wear seat belts when they are on duty or off duty in their vehicles... even noticed fancy number plates where in the numbers are not visible even in English or Marathi you could see is the name e.g.: Nana in Marathi as the actual number is 7171.......this harassment is in thane and munlund check naka seen vehicles which denotes POLICE on their private cars or MUMBAI POLICE.. which the Govt. has banned using such protocols in private vehicles.......awaiting for you reply

As far as helmets and seat belts are concerned its not a punishment to wear them but it is for our own safety. If a staff of police does not wear a helmet while riding a bike I suggest you take a picture and send it to the nearest police station although it wont serve much purpose.

Wearing a helmet is a life saver and should not be looked upon as something imposed on you to make you suffer. Head injuries are the main reason why people die in accidents.
