I have received an intimation from IT deptt. regarding ITR for AY 2009-10. There is a net amount payable as per this and also that I must pay entire demand within 30 days of receipt.
It also gives a calculation which I think is not what was provided by me in the last year ITR.There is a difference in the Deduction under chapter V1A.Even though the amount is 82,542 they have calculated only 2,262.I don't understand what went wrong .i have filed the IT return online and send the ITR-V by ordinary post.As per the ITRV i should get a refund of 120 rs but now intimation has come like i must pay nearly 10,000 rs.

please let me know what should be done on this and how can i cross verify what went wrong.

I have a similar such problem for assessment year 2009-10. Under Chapter VIa, deduction of Rs.1,00,000 has not been considered., due to which I have been asked to pay around Rs.46,000. I tried reaching the number that was provided. 080-43456700, but the number does not exist. Not sure how I should proceed forward.

Can someone clarify.
