Defective suspension, Axle hitting the chassis defective ac, humming noise in cabin misleading ad on fuel efficiency

I had bought a brand new Spark LS Car on 19th April 2009 in my Pramod Swain, from Regent Automobiles, Faridabad dealers of General Motors India Ltd, Regn No HR-51 AE 4182 after seeing their advertisement in the media & studying the flier which we got from the dealer on taking the test drive. We expected that we would be given a good car, but after the car was delivered I found that we have been delivered a car with a lot of defects. On the first day I found Petrol Tank was leaked then I asked to Dealer people they said come to service centre there they resolved. Since then I have faced lots of problem in this car. This is ever my first bad Experience.

Enlist problems;

1. There was a lot of rattling noise in the cabin when the car was running.
2. The suspension was also rattling as if it was loose.
3. The dash board was also creaking & rattling.
4. Every time the car turned to left or right esp worsened when the car passed over a very small pot hole or raised road joint; there was a loud metal clanking noise.
5. The rattling would get worse if the car went on paver block roads or even a small pot hole on the road & road joints.
6. Engine vibration felt left side in cabin while start the engine.

I took the car at the service centre couple of times & last time I complained about the defects (Mr. Vinod- Service manager). After a month the car came back all the complaints resurfaced so I took the car on the 11th March 2011 said the complaints to Mr. Khan and he assured me that all you problems being solved I took back my car on same day, but after a day the same problem occurred which I had complaint earlier to Mr. Khan again I registered a complain to Madam Manjeet Kaur. She told me they will pick up my car on Monday(21.3.11) , but still nobody response to my call neither they came to pick nor being solved. On Tuesday Morning at 9.15 am I called up Mr. Pathak (Manager), he told me that I am sending a guy to pick your car. After passing 2 and ½ hours nobody will come again I rang to Mr. Pathak, but he did not pick my phone first up all, I gave him a message, then after he response of my phone. He picked the car from my office. I gave him (engineer) all the information regarding the problems. Still the problems are persist. I am really fade up with this GM Motor to

After a week of running the car all the old complaints again resurfaced along with a few new problems, enlist;

1.Humming noise in cabin
2.Bubbling noise from compressor when it starts
3. Engine knocking on breaking especially when the car is slowing down in low gears
4. Very low average instead of the claim by company of 16.7Kms/ltr in media ads.


I have since made a lot of inquiries with other Spark owners while driving on the road many have confirmed facing similar problems. It seems there is a complete designing fault or something since the car is not getting repaired after all that has been done. It is very disturbing also the average is very poor it gives 10 km per litre which is not good for its segment cars. I am pissed off by this car. I don’t know what should I do with this car. Instead of comfort this car is a big mess.

It seems that the moment car is out of the showroom, the customer is on its own. There is nothing like after sale service. I never expected such kind of treatment from the world’s best car manufacturer. Now, I don't have any desire to be associated with GM and truly regret my association with GM.I will never suggest anyone to own a GM car.

I am sure, i am not the only one suffering because of their association with GM; there must be many. I sympathise with these people.

After this mail If GM Motor would not take any action then I am going to Consumer court for redress. GM has been completely negligent & insensitive to my grievances. They have given me a defective car & have been very deficient in providing after sales services.
