This is to bring to your notice about the constant issues of my vehicle due to various reasons.
I, Parag Pandit, own a Zen Estilo LXI (MH04 DN 3048) purchased in February 2008 from Spectra Motors, Borivili (East) in Mumbai. It has been a mere 26 months & close to 30000 kms driven so far wherein the experience has been very unfortunate & highly frustrating.
1) In this period, the clutch assembly has spoilt thrice (at 15000 kms, 18000 kms & again at 24000 kms).
2) In February 2010 post running the vehicle for 24000 kms, it had a major breakdown wherein I was told that the clutch has again spoilt & will need to be replaced..!! This required the vehicle to be in the workshop for nearly 10 days.
3) In May 2010, the vehicle conked off wherein it was learnt that the battery was needed to be replaced. This cost me around Rs.4,500.
4) On 8th June 2010, the vehicle started having an ignition problem. Again I had to take it to the workshop wherein it was learnt that the CMP sensur had spoilt & needed to be replaced. This part was not available anywhere in Mumbai & hence it had to be flown down from Gurgaon. This took 4 days & the vehicle was delivered to me on 12th June.
5) Within 4 days the vehicle again conked off on 16th June 2010. This time I had to tow it to the Sai Service workshop in Andheri East at 10.30pm. The next morning after an agonising wait for 2 hours in the workshop, it was learnt that the fuel pump had spoilt. Again this part was not available in Mumbai & would take 2-3 days to get it from Gurgaon.
Surprisingly both problems in point 4 & 5 were explained to me as common problems. However the parts for such common problems are not available in Mumbai....!!!
Such sad experiences with the vehicle have left serious doubts in my mind such as:
i) How can the clutch spoil so frequently at an average of every 4000-5000 kms? Is it that some non-standard parts have been used in the earlier replacements? The doubt gets more stronger as the clutch which was replaced at 18000 kms & 24000 kms was fixed without charging as a goodwill gesture.
ii) Is it possible for a car which is only 2 years old & traversed less than 30000 kms undergo such a major problem related to the alternator belt, engine, CMP sensor, fuel pump etc?
All this unfortunately leads me to believe that this is a 'FAULTY PIECE'. I would even go one step further to say that I feel CHEATED by Maruti. I would want a detailed enquiry into the matter wherein Spectra Motors in Borivali East, Mumbai (both showroom from where I purchased the vehicle as well as the personnel in the workshop) need to be questioned about the sale & the poor quality of 'after sale service' respectively.
Just to bring to your kind notice that the car is being driven by me exclusively & hence negates the chances of a regular breakdown due to multiple users. A complete study of the job history would give you an elaboration of the abovementioned issues in detail. The constant breakdown of the vehicle has lead me to incur additional & unnecessary cost related to towing the vehicle to the workshop, expenditure on public transport etc. Not to mention the frustration & agony which myself & my family have undergone during these periods.
Finally I expect this mail to be escalated to the higher authorities in Maruti whom I expect to give due consideration to the issues of a highly aggrieved customer. This will definitely help me revive my faith in the brand & thereby continue my patronage with them in the future.
Expecting an early & more importantly a FAVOURABLE response
Yours truly,
Parag Pandit
