I had purchased a Hush Puppies Sandal on March 27th this year for Rs.1799/- from above store. After using for a few days, by third week of April, I noticed the sole had broken off on the sides. I took the damaged sandals back to the store in the second week of May. The store said they will talk to Bata and give me a reply in a week, and took the damaged pair in their custody, though no receipt was issued to me for the same. They took note of my telephone and promised to call me. After 3 weeks and many calls they said I can get a replacement. I went to collect it and then they said the size and type which I had purchased was not in stock.
Numerous calls and visits later they confirmed that they have a replacement available on 30/07/2011.
I went to pick it up yesterday evening and then they came out saying the price of the item has gone up to 1999/- and asked me to pay Rs.200/- more to collect the replacement. When I tried to explain to them that I am not doing a new purchase, but getting a replacement for the faulty item, they asked me to contact customer service and gave a phone no, which was not reachable and this e mail id.
I have been forced to pay Rs.200/- to take the replacement and have got a bill to that effect.

I strongly feel cheated by Bata store in this case because:
1. Bata sold to me a product which was not of acceptable quality
2. I could not use it for more than 3 months because of delay in replacement - I bought it for summer use.
3. The subsequent price change should not be applicable, since Bata was giving a replacement only with the same product, same size.
