I am Palash Das, PhD research scholar from IIT Kharagpur, West Bengal.

I bought one USB programmer from Core Technologies, Kolkata
(Web: Core Technologies
Suite No.8A, 3rd Floor
184, Lenin Sarani
Kolkata 700 013. India
Contact No.: +91 33 22126863, 6865).

I was told that the programmer is from "VPL Infotech". I doubt whether it is a genuine product or not. I couldn't match the programmer with the image that has been given in VPL's web site (USB Based Microcontroller Programmer,UPROG-MCU USB Based Microcontroller Programmer,Microcontroller Programmer Device).

I connected my controller chip in the programmer. Then I connected to the USB port (loaded the USB driver). I selected AT89S52 then I loaded my hex file in the software and clicked the Wr/Re (R) button but it didn't reply anything whether the program is loaded in my microcontroller or not. I then used it in my circuit. But it didn't work. I have burnt the same chip with the same program with different programmer (serial) but it worked.

In the chip selection menu, it is also not showing all the chips that is mentioned in VPL's website.

All of the facts drive me in a doubt about the product's authentication.

After that I talked with Mr. S Laha (09830605707) of Core Technologies and asked whether it is really from VPL Infotech or not as I am unable to program through it, he replied in the way "You don't know how to operate it".

I talked with VPL Infotech, and they said that the product was once made by them for a different purpose but now they do not sell that. Also they don't know where from "Core technologies" purchased the same.

I can't use the programmer after an investment of around Rs. 4, 200/- (I am having the invoice copy also). I want my money back and core technologies is refusing to do that.

Please do the needful.
