Some scenarios in India don’t change no matter how comfortable and updated the things become. The case of passports is still an old story. People still depend a lot on the agents and other unreliable sources to make passports. And that is the scenario in almost all places in India. Especially the North India faces the most harassment when it comes to passports because they rely heavily on agents who not only promise them to make passports but also promise them to get visas to countries where they will to go to settle down their lives easily.
But often they face the debacle of getting harassed at the hands of agents or passport officials or others regarding the passport issue and other things related to it like incorrect name, wrong date of birth, printing mistake in address name and similar types of mistakes. If you are not satisfied with any of the services of the passport officials or there are things that you wish to complain for you can write or fax or telephone them to the officers who are authorized to take actions.
Most passport hassles occur in Delhi and other Metros where people take help of unscrupulous agents to get the passports without much intervention of the authorities. A good suggestion for all passport seekers is that they should not seek help from any agent or other source in making passports, but should try to file applications themselves. There is no harm in doing that and it is easy process. You just have to get the form from any stationary shop that deals in passport forms and fill the passport form as required and submit it.
However if you are not satisfied with services of passport officers, and their work or you face other problems in getting your passport you can file passport complaints regarding such problems to the concerned or authorized persons.
The list of concerned officers who take complaint regarding passports and issues related to it include Chief Passport Officer, Joint Secretary (CPV) & Chief Passport Officer, Ministry of External Affairs, and PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER (PUBLIC GRIEVANCES). Besides that you can also write, mail or fax to Assistant Passport Officer (Public Grievances) regarding any complaint.
When you file a complaint regarding your passport you can quote your file reference number in subject and don’t forget to mention the file reference number, year and time of application as well as your RPO/PO in the subject while sending the complaint or grievance through email or letter written to the concerned officers.
The general office timings for passport are 9.30 am to 6.00 PM and it remains open from Monday to Friday in general working. Official and national holidays are applicable to Passport office. So you should take note if there is any holiday before walking down that long to file passport complaints. Some passport offices have provisions for passport complaints for specific days only. All these things should be taken care of while you file passport complaints.
